St George's Park (cricket Ground)
St George's Park Cricket Ground (commonly known as St George's Park, Crusaders Ground or simply Crusaders) is a cricket ground in Gqeberha, (formerly known as Port Elizabeth), in South Africa. It is the home of the Port Elizabeth Cricket Club, one of the oldest cricket clubs in South Africa, the Eastern Province Club and Sunrisers Eastern Cape. It is also one of the venues at which Test matches and One Day Internationals are played in South Africa. It is older than Kingswood College in Grahamstown. The ground is notable for its brass band that plays during major matches, adding a unique flavour to its atmosphere. The ground hosted its first Test match in March 1889 when England defeated South Africa by 8 wickets. St George's Park (est. 1859) is a multi-use park in Gqeberha, South Africa. The park is the oldest park in Gqeberha and most commonly associated with the St George's Oval cricket grounds located within the park. Features The Port Elizabeth Bowling Green Club, the oldest lawn bowling club in South Africa, has been located in the park since its founding in 1882. The collection of the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan Art Museum, formerly the King George VI Art Gallery, is housed in two buildings that frame the entrance to the park. The St George's Park Swimming Baths complex comprises an Olympic sized swimming pool with a diving area. However, the pool has not been used since 2018. 2009 Indian Premier League
The 2009 Indian Premier League season, abbreviated as IPL 2 or the 2009 IPL, was the second season of the Indian Premier League, established by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in 2007. The CSA T20 Challenge is a domestic Twenty20 Cricket competition in South Africa, first contested in the 2003–04 season. It was previously known as the Standard Bank Pro20 Series until the 2010–11 season, the MiWay T20 Challenge for the 2011–12 season and most recently as the RamSlam T20 Challenge. The current champions are the Imperial Lions, whilst the Titans have been the most successful with 6 title wins. The tournament has been contested since its inception by the six franchise teams but for the 2007–08 season, Zimbabwe took part as a seventh side. In April 2019, Cricket South Africa announced that the 2018–19 tournament would be the final edition of the T20 Challenge, due to austerity measures and a restructure of domestic cricket in the country. The CSA One-Day Cup (formerly known as the Standard Bank Cup, the MTN Domestic Championship, and the Momentum One-Day Cup) is the premier domestic one-day cricket competition of South Africa, its matches having List A status. The CSA 4-Day Domestic Series is the domestic first class cricket competition of South Africa. The tournament is contested by teams from all nine provinces of South Africa. First contested as the Currie Cup from 1889–90, the tournament has undergone many changes and modifications in its history. In 2004, the traditional province-based format was replaced, with many teams amalgamating. In its place, six entirely professional franchises were created that represented much larger population areas. The competition underwent significant restructuring once again before the start of the 2021–22 season.
