St Arnaud Railway Station, Victoria
St Arnaud is a closed railway station on the Mildura railway line, in St Arnaud, Victoria, Australia. It is 255 km from Southern Cross station. The station contains grain silos and a number of sidings. The heritage listed building was reopened as a repurposed public Gallery and Community Hub in September, 2019. The station was refurbished as of early 2008, owing to its heritage status, with works to include glazing the platform, and restoring the station building. A major $1M upgrade to the interior of the building and surrounds was completed in July 2019, ahead of the building reopening as a public gallery. There is speculation that passenger services may return in the future, with the reopening of the Mildura line having been promised by the state government since 1999, with major upgrades to the track ongoing as of 2008, and the restoration of services to Maryborough. Mildura Railway Line
The Mildura railway line is a heavy rail line in northwestern Victoria, Australia. The line runs from Yelta station to Ballarat station via the settlements of Mildura, Ouyen and Maryborough in an approximate south-southeasterly direction. Initial sections of the line opened from Ballarat in 1874 and the line reached Mildura in 1903. The line is primarily utilised by freight services. V/Line passenger services also operate on the line between Maryborough and Ballarat. Southern Cross railway station (until 2005 known as Spencer Street station) is a major railway station in Docklands, Victoria, Docklands, Melbourne. Maryborough railway station is a regional railway station on the Mildura line, part of the Victorian railway network. It serves the town of Maryborough, in Victoria, Australia. A railway turntable or wheelhouse is a device for turning railway rolling stock, usually locomotives, to face a different direction. It is especially used in areas where economic considerations or a lack of sufficient space have served to weigh against the construction of a Wye (rail), turnaround wye. Railways needed a way to turn steam locomotives around for return journeys, as their controls were often not configured for extended periods of running in reverse; also many locomotives had a lower top speed in reverse. In British, Australian, French, and Swiss railway signalling, an Annett's key is a form of trapped-key interlocking that locks levers or other items of signalling apparatus, thereby serving as a portable form of interlocking.
