It is part of the '' Canton-Massillon, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area''. History Waynesburg was platted in 1814, and named in honor of Anthony Wayne. A post office called Waynesburgh was established in 1824, and the name was changed to Waynesburg in 1893. Geography Waynesburg is located at (40.667911, -81.257029), along Sandy Creek. Steubenville is a city in and the county seat of Jefferson County, Ohio, United States. Located along the Ohio River 33 miles west of Pittsburgh, it had a population of 18,161 at the 2020 census.
