St. Mary's Catholic High School is a private, Roman Catholic high school in Phoenix, Arizona, United States. It is located in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Phoenix. History Saint Mary's High School was the first Catholic high school in Arizona, and has been part of the Greater Phoenix Metropolitan area since 1917. St. Mary's was founded by the Sisters of the Precious Blood. The founders set aside classroom space for four boys and ten girls at St. Anthony's Elementary school. This was the beginning of the Saint Mary's community. In 1920, Saint Mary's moved into its first, one-story home located on East Monroe Street. In 1928, all male students were transferred to Brophy College Preparatory School on North Central Avenue, leaving Saint Mary's school an all-girls facility. Francis Joseph Green
Francis Joseph Green (July 7, 1906 – May 11, 1995) was an American prelate of the Roman Catholic Church. He served as bishop of the Diocese of Tucson from 1960 to 1981. Biography Early life Francis Green was born on July 7, 1906, in Corning, New York. The family moved to Prescott, Arizona, following his father's death in 1919. As a young man, Green worked in the shops of the Santa Fe Railroad. In 1920, he entered St. Joseph's College in Mountain View, California. Green completed his theological studies at St. Patrick's Seminary in Menlo Park, California. Priesthood Green was ordained to the priesthood for the Diocese of Tucson on May 15, 1932. The NBA G League, or simply the G League, is a professional basketball league in North America that serves as the Minor league#Basketball, developmental league of the National Basketball Association (NBA). The Birmingham Squadron are an American professional basketball team in the NBA G League based in Birmingham, Alabama, and are affiliated with the New Orleans Pelicans. Zylan Anthony Cheatham (born November 17, 1995) is an American professional basketball player for the Adelaide 36ers of the National Basketball League (NBL). He played college basketball for the San Diego State Aztecs and the Arizona State Sun Devils. Early life Cheatham grew up in South Phoenix and initially attended St. Mary's High School. Steve Belles (born November 21, 1966) is an American former professional football quarterback who played for the Arizona Rattlers of the Arena Football League (AFL). He subsequently became a high school football coach in Arizona, amassing five state championships at Hamilton High School in Chandler. He played college football at Notre Dame. Jerryd Andrew Bayless (born August 20, 1988) is an American former professional basketball player. He played a year of college basketball for the Arizona Wildcats after playing high school basketball at St. Mary's High School in Phoenix.
