Stonyhurst Saint Mary's Hall
Stonyhurst St Mary's Hall (commonly known as S.M.H.) is the preparatory school to Stonyhurst College. It is an independent co-educational Catholic school, for ages 3–11, founded by the Society of Jesus (Jesuits). It is adjacent to Stonyhurst College, outside the small village of Hurst Green, near Clitheroe in Lancashire, England. It is primarily a day school but has some boarders. Its building was constructed in 1830 and it is a Grade II Iisted building. Close by was Hodder Place School (opened in 1807) and in 1970 the pupils were transferred from Hodder Place to St Mary's Hall, giving St Mary's a claim to be the oldest preparatory school in the country. St Mary's Hall, Brighton
St Mary's Hall, Brighton, Sussex, England, was a private secondary girls' school from 1836 to 2009. History George Basevi designed the Hall in the Early Tudor style in 1836, "with mullioned windows and a cross above the central gable", and the Marquess of Bristol donated nine acres of land to build the school. Rev. Henry Venn Elliott founded the school for the "daughters of poor clergy" in 1836. Elliott chose to locate the Hall in Brighton because "the Prince Regent had made it a popular place to live", and Elliott believed there would be many wealthy families in that locale seeking governesses. Early school registers, however, do not show many graduates were thus employed. In 1838, the school had 50 students. Doane Academy
Doane Academy is a coeducational, independent day school serving students in pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade, located in Burlington in Burlington County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. Originally called St. Mary's Hall, it was founded in May 1837 by Episcopal Bishop George Washington Doane, initially as an Episcopal girls' boarding school, the first in the United States to offer a classical academic education to women. Shattuck-St. Mary's (also known as Shattuck-St. Mary's School, Shattuck, or simply SSM) is a coeducational Episcopal-affiliated boarding school in the city of Faribault, Minnesota.
