St. John's Preparatory School (Harare)
St. John's Preparatory School is an independent, preparatory day school for boys aged 5 to 12 in Borrowdale, Harare, Zimbabwe. The school is owned and governed by the St. John's Educational Trust, as is St. John's College. St. John's Preparatory School is a member of the Association of Trust Schools (ATS) and the Headmaster is a member of the Conference of Heads of Independent Schools in Zimbabwe (CHISZ). History St John’s Preparatory School was founded in 1956 by Peter and Barbara Hickman at their Borrowdale property. It began as a small family school with 13 pupils. It was their desire to establish a school for boys which offered "a sound system of education in an atmosphere conducive to the growth and development of each personality". Borrowdale is a residential suburb in the north of Harare, Zimbabwe, which ranks among the most affluent and prestigious residential areas in the country. It forms part of the Northeast suburbs of the city of Harare, with a population of 20,312 as of the Zimbabwe 2012 Census. Tennis is a racket sport that is played either individually against a single opponent ( singles) or between two teams of two players each ( doubles). ATSZ
The Association of Trust Schools (ATS) is an organisation of independent primary and secondary schools in Zimbabwe that was founded in 1962. Each of these schools are run by their own Board of Governors and are not for profit entities. The Heads of ATS schools are eligible for membership in the CHISZ. There are 66 schools in the ATS. History In 1962 CHISZ was formed with nine member headmasters: those of Arundel, Bishopslea, Chisipite, Eagle, Falcon, Peterhouse, St. Peter's, Springvale, Whitestone and Bernard Mizeki College. Their purpose was mutual support and encouragement. By the mid-1970s, twenty-four schools attended the Conference. Thabani Jehiel Tawana Maguranyanga, (born 22 December 2002) commonly known as TJ Maguranyanga is a Zimbabwe, Zimbabwean professional player for ASM Clermont Auvergne in the Top 14, French Top 14. He was a member of the Golden Lions Under-18 Craven Week team in 2019. Rugby career Maguranyanga represented Zimbabwe at the Under-13 Craven Week in 2015.
