"St. Elmo's Fire (Man in Motion)" is a song by British singer John Parr from the 1985 film '' St. Elmo's Fire''. It hit No. 1 on the US ''Billboard'' Hot 100 chart on 7 September 1985, remaining there for two weeks. It was the main theme for Joel Schumacher's film, and first single from the soundtrack. The song was created and edited within 24 hours. The record peaked at No. 6 in the United Kingdom, Parr's home country, and became a No. 1 hit for him around the world, and provided many awards and a Grammy nomination. John Stephen Parr (born 18 November 1952) is an English musician, singer, and songwriter, best known for his 1985 single " St. Elmo's Fire (Man in Motion)" for the 1985 movie St. Elmo's Fire, charting at No.1 in the US and No.6 in the UK, and for his 1984 US No.6 rock single " Naughty Naughty". He has written and performed ten major motion picture theme songs, including the themes for ''Three Men and a Baby'' and '' The Running Man''. Rick Hansen
Richard Marvin Hansen (born August 26, 1957) is a Canadian track and field athlete (Paralympic Games and Olympic Games), activist, and philanthropist for people with disabilities. When Rick was 15, he was riding in the back of a pickup truck after a fishing trip with his friend, when the driver lost control and the vehicle rolled over. Hansen was trapped on the inside of the roll and thrown to the ground, along with the equipment from the truck. As a result of the crash, Hansen broke his back, sustained a spinal cord injury and became paralyzed from the waist down. Hansen is most famous for his Man In Motion World Tour, in which he circled the globe in a wheelchair to demonstrate the potential of people with disabilities if barriers were removed and to raise money to support the removal of additional barriers for people with disabilities in the future. David Paul Amato (born March 3, 1953) is an American musician, the lead guitarist of the rock band REO Speedwagon from May 1989 until their retirement in 2024. and a rhythm guitarist/singer for Ted Nugent in the mid-1980s.
