St. Colman's College, Fermoy
St Colman's College () is an all-boys voluntary secondary school, and former boarding school, in Fermoy, County Cork. The college was founded in 1856 and opened in 1858 as the diocesan college of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Cloyne. Archbishop Thomas Croke, after whom Croke Park is named, became the school's first president in this year. History The site upon which St. Colman's was built was bought by Fr. Timothy Murphy in 1856. Murphy commissioned John Pine Hurley to design the new college building. Twenty months after construction began, St. Colman's opened its doors to its first students in 1858. The original college building is three storeys in height and has a six-storey tower. The façade is of red sandstone, with limestone facings. The building, with its tall tower, has since become an iconic structure in Fermoy and looms over the town's skyline. Fermoy () is a town on the Munster Blackwater, River Blackwater in east County Cork, Ireland. As of the 2022 census of Ireland, 2022 census, the town and environs had a population of approximately 6,700 people. It is located in the barony (Ireland), historical barony of Condons and Clangibbon, and is in the Dáil constituency of Cork East (Dáil constituency), Cork East. Patrick Augustine Sheehan
Patrick Augustine Sheehan (17 March 1852 – 5 October 1913) was an Catholic Church in Ireland, Irish Catholic Priesthood (Catholic Church), priest, author and political activist. He was usually known as Canon Sheehan after his 1903 appointment as a Canon (priest), canon of the Diocese of Cloyne (Roman Catholic), diocese of Cloyne, or more fully as Canon Sheehan of Doneraile, after the town of Doneraile where he wrote almost all of his major works and served as parish priest. Niall O'Leary
Niall O'Leary (born 1998) is an Irish hurler who plays for club side Castlelyons, divisional side Imokilly and at inter-county level with the Cork senior hurling team. He is usually deployed as a corner-back, but can also be deployed as a full-back or as a centre-back. Colm Spillane
Colm Spillane (born 1 July 1993) is an Irish hurler who plays for Cork Championship club Castlelyons. He played for the Cork senior hurling team at various stages between 2013 and 2021, during which time he usually lined out as a corner-back. Spillane began his hurling career at club level with Castlelyons. He broke onto the club's top adult team as a 16-year-old in 2010, before later lining out for University College Cork and Imokilly, winning consecutive County Championship titles with the latter. At inter-county level, Spillane enjoyed five consecutive but unsuccessful seasons with the Cork minor and under-21 teams, before later winning an All-Ireland Intermediate Championship title. Seán O'Leary (25 February 1952 – 1 December 2021) was an Irish Hurling, hurler who played as a left corner-forward at senior level for the Cork county hurling team, Cork county team. Career Born in Youghal, County Cork, Munster, O'Leary first played competitive hurling whilst at school at St. Colman's College, Fermoy, St. Colman's College. Mark Landers
Mark Landers (born 13 July 1972) is an Irish hurling coach and former hurling, hurler. He is the coach of Cork Senior Hurling Championship, Cork Senior Championship club Bride Rovers GAA, Bride Rovers. Landers played for East Cork club Killeagh GAA, Killeagh and was a member of the Cork senior hurling team for six seasons, during which time he usually lined out at midfield. Fergal McCormack (born 17 December 1974) is an Irish hurling coach and former hurler. Brian Murphy (born 21 July 1982) is an Irish hurler who plays as a full-back for the Cork senior team. Aidan Kearney (hurler)
Aidan Kearney (born 27 August 1984) is an Irish hurler who plays as a left corner-back for the Waterford senior team. Kearney joined the team during the 2006 championship and has become a regular member of the starting fifteen over subsequent seasons. Since then he has won one Munster medal and one National Hurling League medal. Kearney has ended up as an All-Ireland runner-up on one occasion. Stephen Molumphy (born 11 January 1984) is an Irish former Hurling, hurler with Waterford senior hurling team.
