St. Bede's College, Shimla
St. Bede's College is a women's college in Navbahar, Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, India. The college was originally established as a teacher's training institute in 1904 by the Religious of Jesus and Mary. Today, it offers courses in Commerce, Arts, Sciences, Economics, English, Geography, Microbiology, etc. and is the only college in Himachal Pradesh to receive an 'A+' re-accreditation by UGC-NAAC. Himachal Pradesh University (HPU) is an Indian public state university at Summer Hill in the state capital city Shimla. It is close to the vicinity of the Indian Institute of Advanced Study. It is wholly financed by the government of Himachal Pradesh and the University Grants Commission, New Delhi. History Himachal Pradesh University was established on 22 July 1970 by an Act of the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly. Tavleen Singh (born 1950) is an Indian columnist, political reporter and writer. Biography Singh was born in Mussoorie in 1950 in a Jat Sikh family. She studied at the Welham Girls School. She did a short-term Journalism course from the New Delhi Polytechnic in 1969. She graduated from St. Bede's College, Shimla. She completed her education in India and started her career with a reporting job at the ''Evening Mail'', Slough (England), where she worked and trained for two and a half years under the Westminster Press/Thompson training scheme. Mona Grey
Mona Elizabeth Clara Grey (24 September 1910 – 27 May 2009) was a British nurse who was named Northern Ireland's first Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) in 1960. Biography Grey was born and raised in Rawalpindi, British India (now Pakistan), the daughter of missionaries. Her mother died when she was six and so Grey and her elder sister, Trixie, attended Oakgrove boarding school near the Himalayas. The pair then went to the Church of England Missionary School in Bombay. There, her sister died of tuberculosis. She prepared to be a teacher at St. Bede's College, Shimla, where she graduated with honours and remained in India to work at Lawerence College in Murree Hills. In the 1930s she moved to London, looking for a teaching post, and in 1933 she took a job at Royal London, then known as London Hospital. It was there that she decided to become a nurse.
