Sri Lankan Cricket Team In New Zealand In 1994–95
The Sri Lankan national cricket team toured New Zealand February to April 1995 and played a two-match Test cricket, Test series against the New Zealand national cricket team. Sri Lanka won the series 1–0. New Zealand were captained by Ken Rutherford (cricketer), Ken Rutherford and Sri Lanka by Arjuna Ranatunga. In addition, the teams went on to play a three-match series of Limited Overs Internationals (LOI) which New Zealand won 2–1. This was the first time that Sri Lanka won a test as well as a test series in New Zealand. Sri Lankan National Cricket Team
The Sri Lanka men's national cricket team, (; ) nicknamed The Lions, represents Sri Lanka in men's international cricket. It is a full Member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) with Test cricket, Test, One-Day International (ODI) and T20 International (T20I) status. The team first played first class cricket (as Ceylon) in 1926–27 and became an associate member of the ICC in 1965. They made their international debut in the 1975 Cricket World Cup and were later awarded the Test cricket, Test status in 1981, which made Sri Lanka the eighth Test cricket-playing nation. Steve Randell
Stephen Grant Randell (born 19 February 1956) is a former Australian Test cricket match umpire, the first to come from Tasmania. He was convicted in 1999 of 15 counts of sexual assault against nine schoolgirls of ages 10–12 while teaching at a Catholic primary school between 1981 and 1982. Biography Randell was born in Hobart, Tasmania. He umpired 36 Test matches between 1984 and 1998, the highest number by an Australian umpire to that time (the previous highest was Tony Crafter's 33 matches). His umpiring debut was the Fourth Test between Australia and the West Indies at Melbourne from December 22-27, 1984. Randell's partner was Peter McConnell. Brian Aldridge (cricketer)
Brian Leslie Aldridge (30 June 1940 – 9 December 2021) was a New Zealand cricket umpire. Aldridge was one of the umpires in the 1992 Cricket World Cup final between England and Pakistan. At the time of his death, he was still the only New Zealander to have officiated in a World Cup final. He stood in 26 Test matches and 45 ODI games between 1986 and 1995. As well as 20 Tests in New Zealand, he umpired in three Tests in Sri Lanka, two in Pakistan and one in Zimbabwe. In all, he umpired 84 first-class matches between 1979 and 1995. In 1997, Aldridge became New Zealand Cricket's first-ever full-time umpire manager, a post he held until his retirement in 2008. Lancaster Park
Lancaster Park, also known as Jade Stadium and AMI Stadium for sponsorship reasons, was a sports stadium in Waltham, a suburb of Christchurch in New Zealand. The stadium closed permanently due to damage sustained in the February 2011 earthquake and demolished in 2019. It has since been transformed into a public recreational park with facilities for community sport, and was re-opened in June 2022. The stadium was the venue for various sports including rugby union, cricket, rugby league, association football, athletics and trotting. Justin Thomas Caldwell Vaughan (born 30 August 1967) is a New Zealand cricket administrator and former cricketer who played six Test matches and 18 One Day Internationals between 1992 and 1997. Aravinda De Silva
Deshabandu Pinnaduwage Aravinda de Silva (, ; born 17 October 1965) is a former Sri Lankan cricketer and captain, regarded as one of the best Sri Lankan cricketers, he played in the team as an all-rounder. De Silva was a key member of the Sri Lankan team that won 1996 Cricket World Cup, where he scored a match winning century in the final, that brought Sri Lanka from underdog status to present-day form. Deshabandu Karuppiahyage Ravindra Pushpakumara (born 21 July 1975), or Ravindra Pushpakumara, is a former Sri Lankan cricketer of Tamil - Sinhalese mixed ancestry. He is a right-handed batsman and a right-arm medium-fast bowler. He was a key member of Sri Lanka's 1996 Cricket World Cup winning team. Christopher Lance Cairns (born 13 June 1970) is a former New Zealand cricketer and former ODI captain, who played for the New Zealand cricket team as an all-rounder. Cairns finished his Test career with a batting average of 33.53 and a bowling average of 29.40. In 2000, he was named as one of five Wisden Cricketers of the Year. David Murray Quested (16 April 1946 – 6 August 2024) was a New Zealand cricket umpire. He stood in five Test matches between 1995 and 2001 and 31 One Day International games between 1992 and 2002. He also umpired the final of the 2000 Women's Cricket World Cup, when New Zealand defeated Australia by four runs at Bert Sutcliffe Oval. Dipak Narshibhai Patel (born 25 October 1958) is a Kenyan-born former New Zealand cricketer, who played 37 Test matches and 75 One Day Internationals for the New Zealand cricket team.
