The Sports and Olympic Committee of Macau, China (MOC, ; , ''CODM''), is the National Olympic Committee of Macau and is responsible for organizing the region's participation in international sporting events. Taipa ( zh, t=氹仔, ; , ) is an area in Macau, connected to Coloane through the area known as Cotai, which is largely built from reclaimed land. Located on the northern half of the island, Taipa's population is mostly suburban. Nanquan, or zh, c=南派, p=Nán pài, l=southern school) refers to a classification of Chinese martial arts that originated in Southern China. The southern styles of Chinese martial arts are characterized by emphasis on "short hitting" and specific arm movements, predominantly in southern styles such as Hung Kuen, Choi Lei Fut, Hak Fu Mun, Wuzuquan, Wing Chun, and so on. 2006 Lusofonia Games
The 1st Lusofonia Games (; ) were held in the Macau Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China between 7 and 15 October 2006. The 2006 Games were the first edition of this multi-sport event for Portuguese-speaking countries and territories, under the banner of ACOLOP. The site for the opening ceremony was the Macau Stadium and the closing ceremony was held at the Macau East Asian Games Dome. The mascot for the games was a dog named Leo. The pronunciation of "Leo" in Portuguese is similar to Chinese ('' 嚟 澳''; ''Lei O'') and it means "Come to Macau".
