Sporting Clube Da Praia
Sporting Clube da Praia, short form: Sporting Praia ( Capeverdean Crioulo, ALUPEC or ALUPEK as well as Badiu: ''Sporting Klubi di Praia'') is a professional football club that plays in the Santiago South Premier Division in Cape Verde. It is based in the capital city of Praia in the island of Santiago, one of the unrelegated clubs in the south of the island along with three of the city's four historically mightiest clubs including Académica, Boavista and CD Travadores. Along with Académcia, Boavista, Desportivo, Travadores and Vitória, it is one of several teams that share the same ground, Estádio da Várzea, which has a capacity of 8,000. SCP regularly play home games in front of hundreds of spectators. Sporting has won six championships since independence and a few before independence. Luís Carlos Almada Soares (born 16 April 1986), commonly known as Platini, is a Cape Verdean professional footballer who plays as a winger. Clube Desportivo Scorpions Vermelho de Santa Cruz is a football club that plays in the Santiago Island League North Zone of the Grupo Centro Sul in Cape Verde. Grupo Desportivo Varandinha (also in the Capeverdean Crioulos of ALUPEC or ALUPEK and São Vicente Crioulo) is a football (soccer) club that plays in the Santiago Island League North Zone in Cape Verde. Felisberto Cardoso, nicknamed Beto, is a Cape Verdean football coach. Career Beto was coach of Sporting Clube da Praia starting in around 2008 for a few years, he would lead his team to win the 2009 Championships and later the 2010 regional championships for the Santiago South Zone, the club that season finished as a finalist in the 2010 edition. He was appointed interim manager of the Cape Verde national team in February 2014, alongside Men Ramires. Eduardo Moreira Fernandes (born August 21, 1977), better known as Vargas Fernandes is a Capeverdean footballer who played as a midfielder. Career His first club was Sporting Clube da Praia in his native country, he would lead to win the 1998 regionals. In 2000, he played in Portugal, starting in Gil Vicente in the Portuguese SuperLiga. He played as a midfielder there with different clubs, in the 2004-05 season, he played with FC Alverca which was in the lower Liga de Honra (Honour League).
