Spencerport Depot
Spencerport is a Village (New York), village in Monroe County, New York, Monroe County, New York (state), New York, United States, and a suburb of Rochester, New York, Rochester. The population was 3,685 at the 2020 census. The village is within the town of Ogden, New York, Ogden, along the Erie Canal. History In 1804, Daniel Spencer bought a farm about north of Ogden Center. When the Erie Canal opened, the farm, through which the canal passed at the Canawaugus Road, was sold to become the first village lots. As a port on the canal, the area was called "Spencer's Basin" and later changed to Spencerport. On April 22, 1867, the New York State Legislature incorporated Spencerport as a village, and William Slayton was elected as its first mayor. The Spencerport Methodist Church was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2008. Spencerport Methodist Church, also known as Spencerport United Methodist Church, is a historic Methodist church located at Spencerport in Monroe County, New York, United States. Hilton, New York
Hilton is a village in Monroe County, New York, United States. The population was 6,027 at the 2020 census. The community was named for the Rev. Charles A. Hilton and is entirely within the town of Parma. History In 1805, Jonathon Underwood came from Vermont and was the first to settle in the area. Originally known as "Unionville", the village was incorporated in 1885 as "North Parma". In 1896, the name was changed to Hilton to honor Reverend Charles Augustus Hilton, a former pastor of the village's Freewill Baptist Church. Gates is a town in Monroe County, New York, United States. The town is named after General Horatio Gates. The population was 29,167 at the 2020 census. Gates and North Gates are census-designated places within the town. It is a suburb of Rochester. History The town of Gates was organized in 1797 as "Northampton" in Ontario County.
