South Africa Women's National Rugby Sevens Team
The South Africa women's national rugby sevens team competes at events within the World Rugby Women's Sevens Series and are a core team for the 2023–24 season. They first played in the 2009 Rugby World Cup Sevens, and also competed in the IRB Women's Sevens Challenge Cup in the 2011–12 season. South Africa qualified for the 2016 Rio Olympics after winning the 2015 Women's Africa Cup Sevens, but did not enter the tournament because the South African Olympic Committee (SASCOC) rules states that teams cannot qualify by winning continental titles. Renfred Dazel
Renfred Leroy Dazel (born 4 May 1981) is a South African rugby union coach and former player. Biography Raised in Paarl, Dazel was educated at Paulus Joubert Secondary School. Dazel competed in the Currie Cup for the Boland Cavaliers and played on the South Africa national rugby sevens team from 2005 to 2012. He represented South Africa at two Commonwealth Games, won a IRB Sevens World Series The SVNS, known as the HSBC SVNS for sponsorship reasons, is an annual series of international rugby sevens tournaments run by World Rugby featuring national sevens teams. Organised for the first time in the 1999–2000 season as the IRB World ... title in 2008–09 and was one of the nominees for the 2009 IRB Men's Sevens Player of the Year. 2023–24 SVNS
The 2023–24 SVNS was the 25th annual series of rugby sevens tournaments for national sevens teams, known as the World Rugby Sevens Series (SVNS). It took place between December 2023 and June 2024. The 2022 Africa Women's Sevens are an annual African rugby sevens tournament that took place at the Stade Municipal de Jemmal in Jemmal on 29 and 30 April 2022; they were held in Tunisia for the fourth time. Nine teams participated in the tournament, including 2019 champions South Africa (who successfully defended their title and qualified for the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham). The 2019 Africa Women's Sevens was a women's rugby sevens tournament held in Monastir, Tunisia on 12–13 October 2019. The tournament acted as qualification for the 2020 Hong Kong Women's Sevens, which in turns serves as a qualification tournament for the World Rugby Women's Sevens Series.
