Story The poem begins as an old sorcerer departs his workshop, leaving his apprentice with chores to perform. Tired of fetching water by pail, the apprentice enchants a broom to do the work for him, using magic in which he is not fully trained. The Sorcerer's Apprentice (Ewers Novel)
''Der Zauberlehrling'' (''The Sorcerer's Apprentice'') is a novel by Hanns Heinz Ewers, one of numerous works inspired in various ways by Goethe's The Sorcerer's Apprentice, poem of the same name. Ewers' first book, it was published in 1910. An English translation was published in America in 1927. It introduces the character of Frank Braun, who, like Ewers himself, is a writer, historian, philosopher, and world traveller with a decidedly Nietzschean morality. The story concerns Braun's attempts to manipulate a small cult of Evangelical Christians in a small Italian mountain village for his own financial gain, and the horrific results which ensue.E. F. Bleiler, "Ewers, Hanns Heinz" in Jack Sullivan (literary scholar), Sullivan, Jack, (ed.) ''The Penguin Encyclopedia of Horror and the Supernatural''. (pp. 145-6). Viking, New York. 1986. Braun returned in sequels by Ewers, the 1911 ''Alraune'' where he creates a Frankenstein's monster, Frankenstein-like female creature and the 19 ...

Sorcerer's Apprentice (Augiéras Novel)
''The Sorcerer's Apprentice'' is a novel by François Augiéras. First published in France in 1964 as ''L'apprenti sorcier'', it was translated into English by Sue Dyson in 2001 and published by Pushkin Press. Plot summary

The novel is set in the Sarladais (the Dordogne region of France). An adolescent boy is sent to live with a 35-year-old priest, who becomes his teacher and spiritual mentor, and exerts a powerful control over the boy. He abuses him physically and sexually, but the boy willingly accepts his 'punishment.' The boy falls in love with a slightly younger, and very beautiful boy, meeting in secret and having sex. This disturbing story is much more than a tale of a sexually violent predator. The adolescent himself experiences sexual activity with the other boy, but this relationship is one of genuine love and affection, rather than the coercive, harmful abuse he is subjected to by the priest. 1964 French novels Novels set in Aquitaine Novels about gay topics ...

It consists of eight animated segments set to pieces of classical music conducted by Leopold Stokowski, seven of which are performed by the Philadelphia Orchestra. Music critic and composer Deems Taylor acts as the film's Master of Ceremonies who introduces each segment in live action. Disney settled on the film's concept in 1938 as work neared completion on ''The Sorcerer's Apprentice'', originally an elaborate ''Silly Symphony'' cartoon designed as a comeback role for Mickey Mouse, who had declined in popularity. The Sorcerer's Apprentice (1955 Film)
''The Sorcerer's Apprentice'' (1955) is a short film made by Michael Powell for Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR) West Germany, West German television. It is the 1797 Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, Goethe story The Sorcerer's Apprentice, of the same name presented as a ballet performed by the Opern- und Schauspielhaus Frankfurt, Frankfurt Opera with Sonia Arova as the solo dancer. There are other character dancers appearing as various items and creatures and of course the Sorcerer himself. But none of these are named on the credits and nobody has managed to find out who they were, as yet. The English-language narrator is also uncredited. Production The original apparently ran for about 30 minutes. But the only version that seems to exist is this 13-minute version. There are probably many small cuts rather than any big ones because the bulk of the story appears to be there although some of the cutting seems choppy. Michael Powell was hired to direct it for his old friend Hein Heckroth. H ...
