Sokolac, Bosnia And Herzegovina
Sokolac ( sr-Cyrl, Соколац) is a town and municipality of the city of Istočno Sarajevo, Republika Srpska, Bosnia and Herzegovina. As of 2013, it has a population of 12,021 inhabitants, while the town of Sokolac has a population of 5,919 inhabitants. History Bosnian War On the 22 September 1992, the Army of Republika Srpska committed a massacre of 45 Bosniak civilians (44 male, one female) from the neighboring villages of Novoseoci and Pavičići in the villages of Novoseoci, Sokolac municipality, and Ivan Polje landfill on the way to Rogatica, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Members of the VRS killed a woman in the village, then transported 44 men and boys to the Ivan Polje landfill, where they shot them dead. Exhumation at the landfill revealed additional eight victims from Han Stjenica, Rogatica municipality. Goraždevac
Goraždevac ( sr-Cyrl, Гораждевац, ) is a village near the city of Peja in Kosovo. It has been inhabited since at least the thirteenth century, when it was mentioned in the chrysobull of Stefan Nemanja (or his son, Stefan the First-Crowned). History During World War II, 47 Serbs and Montenegrins were killed in the village in 1941 by Albanian paramilitaries. As a Serb-inhabited enclave in a heavily Albanian-inhabited region of western Kosovo, Goraždevac has been the scene of ethnic tensions between the two communities. It was the scene of attacks by the guerilla group, the Kosovo Liberation Army, in the late 1990s as they fought the Serb military forces, accused of committing atrocities against the Albanian population. Arilje ( sr-cyr, Ариље, ) is a town and municipality located in the Zlatibor District of southwestern Serbia.
