Sohni Mahiwal (1984 Film)
''Sohni Mahiwal '' (, ) is a 1984 Indo-Russian historical romance drama film based on the Punjabi folk tragedy of the same name, directed by Umesh Mehra and Latif Faiziyev (Russia), produced by F. C. Mehra. It stars Sunny Deol, Poonam Dhillon and Zeenat Aman in pivotal roles. The writers were Shanti Prakash Bakshi and Javed Siddiqui. The music was scored by Anu Malik. Choreographer P. L. Raj. The film was a commercial success with a net collection of 3.2 crore. Plot Shahzada Izzat Beg comes to India with his caravan from Bukhara Uzbekistan and settles in a town in Punjab. Here he falls in love with Sohni, who keeps a shop in metal pots. Izzat Beg buys a pot from her with whatever money he had and they were attracted to each other. Sohni dispensed with her servant and kept Izzat Beg instead. This gave them more opportunity to meet. Umesh Mehra
Umesh Mehra is an Indian film director and producer. He was prominent in the 1980s and 1990s. His notable films include '' Alibaba Aur 40 Chor'' (1980), '' Sohni Mahiwal'' (1984) and Vardi (1989). He directed Akshay Kumar in three films in the ''Khiladi'' series: '' Sabse Bada Khiladi'' (1995) '' Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi'' (1996) and '' International Khiladi'' (1999). Shabbir Kumar (born 26 October 1954) is an Indian playback singer, notable for his work in Bollywood. Known for his sweet and resonant voice, He is an ardent fan of Mohammed Rafi. Anwar Hussain (born 1 February 1949), known by the mononym Anwar, is an Indian playback singer. Early years Anwar was born in Mumbai on 1 February 1949. His father, Ashiq Hussain (Ahmed Ali Khan), was an accomplished sitar and harmonium player and an assistant music director to the musician Ghulam Haider. Anwar is the brother of actress Asha Sachdev, through Ashiq's first marriage to actress Ranjana Sachdev, and the half-brother of actor Arshad Warsi through his second marriage after divorce.
