Skandia
Skandia is a Swedish financial services corporation that provides insurance, banking and asset management services. Between 2006 and 2015, the financial group underwent major changes. From an insurance company with the main emphasis on non-life insurance to a business that is globally focused on savings, to once again becoming a Nordic banking and insurance group with a focus on security and long-term savings. In February 2006, the South African company Old Mutual took over the majority of shares in the company. In March 2012, Skandia Liv bought Skandia's Nordic operations back from Old Mutual and decided to transform Skandia into a customer-owned, mutual company retaining the Skandia name. Elis Fischer
Gustaf Elis Fischer (13 January 1834 – 19 August 1889) was a Swedish business executive and lawyer, served as the chief executive of Skandia from 1870 to 1886, and was a Member of Parliament. He is remembered for the Fischer trial, during which he faced accusations of fraud and received a prison sentence. Early life Gustaf Elis Fischer was born on 13 January 1834 in Askersund, Sweden. His father, Per Gustaf Fischer, was a postmaster, and his mother was Eva Sophia Fischer (née Brattström). Fischer had two younger full brothers, Emil Nicanor (1839–1912) and Alfred Theodor (1836–1839). His maternal grandfather was Magnus Brattström, an ironmaster. After his father's death in 1845, Fischer moved to Örebro with his mother and brother. Old Mutual (officially Old Mutual Limited) is a South African investment, savings, insurance, and banking group, operating across Africa. Wade Dokken (born March 3, 1960) is an American financial writer and businessman. Wade Dokken was raised in rural North Dakota and attended the University of North Dakota, where he studied political science and journalism. After graduating, Dokken became an account executive at Paine Webber. Gaining knowledge and expertise in annuities, Dokken went on to become the National Sales Manager at American Skandia. After being named CEO of American Skandia in 2000, Dokken partnered with Goldman Sachs to guide the sale of the company to Prudential Financial in 2003 for $1.2 billion.
