Site of Home of Diego Sepúlveda is an adobe home, built by José Diego Sepúlveda (1820–1869) in 1853. This was the first two-story Monterey-type adobe built in Southern California. It was designated a California Historic Landmark (No. 380) on Jan. 3, 1944. It was located in what is now San Pedro, Los Angeles, California. Nothing remains of the home. José Diego Sepúlveda was part owner of Rancho San Bernardino. José Diego Sepúlveda married María Francisca Elisalde at Mission San Gabriel Arcángel. Their eldest son was Román Dolores Sepúlveda (1851–1940). José Diego Sepúlveda was the son of José Dolores Sepúlveda (1793–1824) and María Ignacia Marcia Ávila. Francisco Xavier Sepúlveda
Francisco Xavier Sepúlveda-García (1747–1788) was a Mexican colonial military officer and founder of the Sepúlveda family of California, a prominent Californio family of Southern California. Life He was born in Villa de Sinaloa, Mexico, the son of Juan José Sepúlveda (born 1720) and Ana María Josefa García (born 1720). He married María Candelaria de Redondo in 1762. In 1781, the couple and their 6 children accompanied the José de Züñiga Expedition into upper Las Californias. Francisco Xavier Sepúlveda died in the Pueblo de Los Ángeles and was buried at the Mission San Gabriel Arcángel cemetery on 26 January 1788. Rancho San Bernardino was a Mexican land grant in present-day San Bernardino County, California given in 1842 by Governor Juan B. Alvarado to José del Carmen Lugo, José María Lugo, Vicente Lugo, and Diego Sepulveda. The grant included a large part of the San Bernardino valley, and encompassed present-day San Bernardino, Fontana, Rialto, Redlands and Colton. Mission San Gabriel Arcángel
Mission San Gabriel Arcángel () is a Californian mission and historic landmark in San Gabriel, California. It was founded by the Spanish Empire on the Nativity of Mary September 8, 1771, as the fourth of what would become twenty-one Spanish missions in California. San Gabriel Arcángel was named after the Archangel Gabriel and often referred to as the "Godmother of the Pueblo of Los Angeles." The mission was designed by Antonio Cruzado, who gave the building its capped buttresses and the tall narrow windows, which are unique among the missions of the California chain. It was completed in 1805. A large stone cross stands in the center of the ''Campo Santo'' (cemetery), first consecrated in 1778 and then again on January 29, 1939.
