Silly Thing
"Silly Thing" is a song by the Sex Pistols that was released in 1979. It was the 3rd single released in promotion of the film ''The Great Rock 'n' Roll Swindle''. It was written by drummer Paul Cook and guitarist Steve Jones, and recorded after the band's original lead singer, Johnny Rotten, left the band. Typically, Jones also played bass in the studio, rather than suffer the ineptitude of the band's official bassist, Sid Vicious. ''The Great Rock 'n' Roll Swindle'' is the soundtrack album of the film of the same name by the Sex Pistols. The album was released on the 23rd of February, 1979, on Virgin Records. The album is the first since the band's debut studio album, ''Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols'', and was their first album since they broke up a year prior. Production By the time the soundtrack was being prepared, Johnny Rotten (Lydon) had left the band and refused to participate in the project. Manager Malcolm McLaren was left with a major problem — how to sell a double LP soundtrack with no songs featuring the Sex Pistols' dynamic, original vocalist. Desperate for a "workaround", McLaren discovered an October 1976 rehearsal session by the original lineup. The Swindle Continues
''The Swindle Continues'' is the first album released by the Ex Pistols in 1988. It consists of half Sex Pistols and half Ex Pistols material, and is the only Ex Pistols release that doesn't disguise itself as material completely by the Sex Pistols. Rainbow Theatre
The Rainbow Theatre, originally known as the Finsbury Park Astoria, then the Finsbury Park Paramount Astoria, and then the Finsbury Park Odeon, is a Grade II*-listed building in Finsbury Park, London. The theatre was built in 1930 as an "atmospheric cinema", to house entertainment extravaganzas which included a film show. It later became an ordinary cinema, then a music venue, as which it is best known, and then an occasional unlicensed boxing venue. Irene Handl () (27 December 1901 – 29 November 1987) was a British character actress who appeared in more than 100 British films; she also wrote novels. Life Irene Handl was born in Maida Vale, London, the younger of two daughters of an Austrian-born father—Friedrich (later Frederick) Handl (1874–1961) and German mother, Marie ( Schiepp or Schuepp; 1875before 1924). Both of Handl's parents became naturalised British citizens. Her father came to England via Switzerland and started as a bank clerk, before becoming a stockbroker, then became a private banker. Andrew Pryce Jackman (13 July 1946 – 16 August 2003) was an English keyboardist, arranger and composer who worked with many leading figures in British popular music. His most successful project was as the arranger and conductor of the ''Classic Rock'' series of albums by the London Symphony Orchestra, the first of which reached No 3 in the charts in 1978. Career Jackman began his music career as the keyboard player in The Selfs, a rhythm and blues band formed in 1964 in Wembley, London, also featuring bassist Chris Squire (later of Yes) and drummer Martyn Adelman. It features all tracks from ''Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols and highlights from the soundtrack album ''The Great Rock 'n' Roll Swindle'', interspersed with singles and B-sides. Originally ''Kiss This'' was issued with a bonus CD featuring the 21 July 1977 show at Trondheim and a foldout colour poster. The standard edition of ''Kiss This'' comprises 20 tracks. The Professionals (band)
The Professionals were an English punk rock band active from 1979 to early 1982 and again from 2015 to 2024. They were formed by ex-Sex Pistols members Steve Jones and Paul Cook after that band's demise. The Professionals split in 1982, before reforming in 2015 under the leadership of Cook.
