Sikkim Women's Football Team
The Sikkim Football Association (SFA) is one of the 36 Indian state football associations that are affiliated with the All India Football Federation (AIFF), based out of Gangtok, Sikkim. It sends state teams for Santosh Trophy and Senior Women's National Football Championship. History The Sikkim Football Association was formed in the year 1976, while previously it was known as the ''Gangtok Football and Sporting Association''. Sikkim football dates back with first local team, Kumar Sporting Club. The association started Sikkim Gold Cup in 1979 with the help of the Sikkim government. As interest in football in Sikkim went down due to the lack of organizing, former India football team captain Baichung Bhutia, who was born in Sikkim, founded the club United Sikkim. The Indian football league system is the league structure of football club competitions in India. The highest level of men's club football competition is the Indian Super League. Sikkim Women's Super League
The Sikkim Women's Super League is the top division of women's football league in the Indian state of Sikkim. The league is organised by the Sikkim Football Association (SFA), the official football governing body of the state. The inaugural season was held in 2023 and was won by SSA Soreng. Format The league features six teams, namely Young Girls FC, Pakyong United FC, Northerners Girls FC, Soreng Girls Academy, Dentam Girls Academy and Southerners Girls. The league offers women players the opportunity to excel and gain recognition. Teams are allowed a maximum of 25 players, including five players from outside the state. The league is designed for each team to play at least five matches. The winners of the Sikkim Women’s Super League will be nominated to participate in the IWL 2nd Division. The Sikkim Premier League is a state-level men's franchise football league in Sikkim, India. The first season was started in 2023, organised by the Football Development Private Limited and the Sikkim Football Association. History In order to revive competitive football in the state, a new franchise league was developed by the former regional footballers under the banner of Football Development Private Limited (FDPL). The league is sponsored by the Teesta Urja Limited and the Government of Sikkim. The league includes teams from different districts of Sikkim in order to provide a pan-state and more competitive structure. Gyalshing District
Gyalshing District or Geyzing District is a district of the Indian state of Sikkim. Its headquarter is Geyzing, also known as Gyalshing. The district is a favourite among trekkers due to the high elevations. Other important towns include Pelling and Yuksom. Local people also call it as ''Pallo-Sikkim'' and ''Sano-Sikkim'' commonly. Soreng District
Soreng district is a district in the Indian state of Sikkim, administered from Soreng. Soreng District was officially created from Gyalshing District (then West Sikkim) in December 2021 by ''The Sikkim (re-Organization of District) Act, 2021'', hence becoming the sixth district of Sikkim. Its shares borders with Nepal on its west, Gyalshing district to north, Namchi district to east and Darjeeling district of West Bengal to the south. Mangan District
North Sikkim (now officially named as Mangan District) is a district of the Indian state of Sikkim. Its district headquarters is Mangan. It is the seventh least populous district in the country (out of 640). Geography Mangan is the largest of the six districts of Sikkim. The landscape is mountainous with dense vegetation all the way up to the alpine altitude before thinning out to desert scrub towards the northern tundra. Numerous waterfalls astride the main road make the trip to this district extremely picturesque. Gangtok District
Gangtok District is an administrative district of the Indian States and territories of India, state of Sikkim. It was renamed in 2021 as a result of administrative reorganisation of the state, which also saw three subdivisions of the East Sikkim district spawned off as a separate Pakyong district.
