Shooting At The 1968 Summer Olympics – Mixed Trap
The trap was a shooting sports event held as part of the Shooting at the 1968 Summer Olympics programme. The competition was held on 18 and 19 October 1968 at the shooting ranges in Mexico City. 55 shooters from 34 nations competed. For the first time, the event was open to women as well as men (though none competed). Nations were limited to two shooters each. The event was won by Bob Braithwaite of Great Britain, the nation's first victory in the event and first medal of any color in the trap since 1908. Silver went to Thomas Garrigus of the United States. Kurt Czekalla of East Germany took bronze; it was the first medal in the event for East Germany as a separate nation, and the first medal for any German trap shooter since 1912. Vicente Suárez Shooting Range
The Vicente Suárez Shooting Range was a temporary firing range constructed in Campo Militar 1 for the 1968 Summer Olympics. During those games, it hosted all of the Shooting at the 1968 Summer Olympics, shooting events, the first time the competitions took place at the same location since 1928. Randhir Singh (sport Shooter)
Randhir Singh (born 18 October 1946) is an Indian sports administrator and former sports shooter. Singh is noted as one of India's most influential sports administrators. He has held several positions in both Indian and international sports governing bodies, and also had a successful shooting career before retiring from the sport in 1994. Singh began his sports administration career in 1984, while he was still competing as a shooter. Singh has been serving as the President of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) since September 2024, and he was previously the Acting President of the OCA from September 2021. His other roles in international sports administration include being a member of the IOC from 2001 to 2014; since 2014, he has been an honorary member of the IOC. Michel Carrega
Michel Carrega (25 September 1934 – 26 September 2024) was a French trap shooter. He competed at the 1968, 1972, 1976 and 1984 Olympics and won a silver medal in 1972. Maharaja Karni Singh ji (21 April 1924 – 6 September 1988), also known as Dr Karni Singh, was from 1950 the last Maharaja of Bikaner State to hold the title of Maharaja of Bikaner, officially, until 1971, when the privy purse and all the royal titles were abolished by the Republic of India. John Primrose (sport Shooter)
John Nairn Primrose (born 28 May 1942) is a Canadian trap shooter who competed at six Olympics from 1968 to 1992 (excluding 1980). Career His best position was seventh in the Mixed Trap in the 1972 and 1976 Olympics. John won a gold medal in the 1975 Trap World Championships and the 1983 World Championships (see "Olympic Trap"). A high-light was winning the gold medal at the Commonwealth Games in Edmonton in 1978. He was inducted into the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame after winning his first Commonwealth gold medal in New Zealand. John, a member of Clan Primrose, is the son of Justice Neil Primrose and the grandson of a lieutenant governor of Alberta, Philip Primrose. Adam Smelczyński
Adam Smelczyński (14 September 1930 – 14 June 2021) was a Polish trap shooter who competed at six Olympics between 1956 and 1976, winning one silver medal in 1956. He was born in Częstochowa, Poland. Along with Bill McMillan, he was the second shooter to compete at six Olympics, after Frans Lafortune (the Theofilakis brothers Alexandros and Ioannis competed at six Olympics only if the unofficial 1906 Games are counted).
