Shooting At The 2008 Summer Olympics – Women's Skeet
The Women's Olympic Skeet, skeet event at the 2008 Olympic Games took place on August 14 at the Beijing Shooting Range Clay Target Field. The event consisted of two rounds: a qualifier and a final. In the qualifier, each shooter fired 3 sets of 25 shots in the set order of skeet shooting. The top 6 shooters in the qualifying round moved on to the final round. There, they fired one additional round of 25. The total score from all 100 shots was used to determine final ranking. Ties are broken using a shoot-off; additional shots are fired one at a time until there is no longer a tie. Records Prior to this competition, the existing world and Olympic records were as follows. Beijing Shooting Range Clay Target Field
The Beijing Shooting Range Clay Target Field () is a shooting range in the Shijingshan District of Beijing, People's Republic of China, China. During the 1990 Asian Games, the shooting range was used for shooting and archery competitions. It was under renovation and was completed in August 2007 for the 2008 Summer Olympics. At the 2008 Olympics, the Shooting at the 2008 Summer Olympics, shooting range hosted men's and women's skeet shooting and trap shooting events. It has floor space of 6,170 square metres with a capacity of 5,000 seats which was reduced to 1,047 after the Games. Lucia Liliana Mihalache (born July 5, 1967 in Arad) is a Romanian sport shooter. At age 41, Mihalache made her official debut for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, where she competed in women's skeet shooting. She placed tenth out of nineteen shooters in the qualifying rounds of the event, with a total score of 66 points. Pak Jong-ran
Pak Jong-ran (; born March 24, 1966) is a North Korean sport shooter. She won two gold medals in the women's skeet at the 1990 Asian Games in Beijing, China, and at the 1991 ISSF World Shooting Championships in Perth, Western Australia, with scores of 197 and 191 targets, respectively. Pak made her official debut for the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, where she placed thirty-third in mixed skeet shooting, with a score of 144 hits, tying her position with eight other shooters including Egypt's Mohamed Khorshed and Norway's Harald Jensen. Andri Eleftheriou (born 19 June 1984) is a Cypriot sport shooter, and a member of the women's national shooting team of Cyprus. Eleftheriou was born in Limassol. In 2006, she won the skeet shooting gold medal at the Melbourne Commonwealth Games. Nathalie Linda Larsson (born May 25, 1984 in Uppsala) is a Swedish sport shooter. She won two gold medals in the women's skeet at the 2005 European Shooting Championships in Belgrade, Serbia, and at the 2009 European Shooting Championships in Osijek, Croatia, accumulating scores of 92 and 93 targets, respectively. Larsson qualified for the women's skeet at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, after placing fourth from the 2007 ISSF World Cup series in the same venue, with a score of 94 targets. Wei Ning
Wei Ning (; born August 5, 1982, in Laizhou, Yantai, Shandong) is a female Chinese sports shooter. She competed in the 2004 Summer Olympics where she won the silver medal in the women's skeet competition. In the 2008 Olympics in Beijing she reached the final of the six best but could not win a medal. At the 2012 Summer Olympics, she again won the silver medal in the women's skeet. Wei Ning is one of the outstanding Skeet shots in the World. She won the World Championships in 2003 and won the silver medal in 2007 and 2010. She won the World Cup Final three times in 2001, 2002 and 2004. Wei won six World Cups and finished on the podium eight more times, most recently at the World Cup in Concepcion Chile in March 2011. Having won in 2010 in Guangzhou, Wei Ning is the currently reigning Asian Games champion. She already won the silver medal at the Asian Games in 2006.
