Shanghai Municipal People's Congress
The Shanghai Municipal People's Congress is the local people's congress of Shanghai. With 855 members in 2020, People's Congress is the elected council of Shanghai that oversees the Shanghai Municipal People's Government. The Municipal People's Congress is elected for a term of five years. It holds annual sessions every spring, usually lasting from 5 to 7 days, in the in Pudong of Shanghai, and these annual meetings provide an opportunity for the officers of Shanghai to review past policies and present future plans to Shanghai. System Of People's Congress
The system of people's congress () under the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is the form of government of the People's Republic of China (PRC), and is based on the principle of unified power, in which all state powers are vested in the National People's Congress (NPC). No separation of powers exists in the PRC. All state organs are elected by, answerable to, and have no separate powers than those granted to them by the NPC. By law, all elections at all levels must adhere to the leadership of the CCP.
