Shaktiman (horse)
Shaktiman was a Marwari (horse), Marwari horse who served the Uttarakhand Police, Uttarakhand Police Force and died from wounds received on duty in 2016. The incident caused considerable controversy in Uttarakhand around animal cruelty, and the use of animals in policing. The horse's death created a conversation in India around animal rights and political power, as the alleged perpetrators of the attack on the horse were serving political cabinet ministers. Incident On March 14, 2016, police horse Shaktiman was attacked with a stick by Bharatiya Janata Party, BJP Member of the Legislative Assembly (India), MLA politician and cabinet minister Ganesh Joshi during a protest organized by Bharatiya Janata Party, BJP against the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand. Shaktiman Truck
The Shaktiman (Strong) is a version of the MAN 415 built under licence. Shaktiman trucks were the most widely used medium-capacity trucks of the Indian Armed Forces. They were manufactured between 1959 and 1996 by the Vehicle Factory Jabalpur, (VFJ) of the Indian Ordnance Factories Board. Over 75,000 units were produced over its lifetime, of which about 7,000 remained in active service as of 2009. Nearly all the Shaktimans have been phased out and replaced by Ashok Leyland Stallion and Tata LPTA 713 4x4s. Production The first Shaktiman rolled off the production line at the Vehicle Factory Jabalpur (VFJ) motorvehicle factory in 1959. The five ton Shaktiman VFJ 4X4 model was based on the MAN 415. The first units were assembled using CKD-kits from Germany, the monthly production was about 250 units. ''Shaktimaan'' is an Indian Hindi-language superhero television series created and produced by Mukesh Khanna. It aired on DD National from 13 September 1997 to 27 March 2005. Khanna starred as the titular superhero, who gains superhuman abilities through meditation and the five elements of nature, and his alter ego, Pandit Gangadhar Vidhyadhar Mayadhar Omkarnath Shastri, a photographer for ''Aaj Ki Aawaz''. The series also featured Vaishnavi Mahant (initially played by Kitu Gidwani) as journalist Geeta Vishwas and Surendra Pal as the primary antagonist, Tamraj Kilvish. ''Shaktimaan'' is an Indian superhero media franchise consisting of TV series, comic books and films. The original work is ''Shaktimaan'', which was produced by Mukesh Khanna under his banner Bheeshm International and directed by Dinkar Jani and Vikram Veturi. Production ''Shaktimaan'' was conceptualised by Khanna in 1981 when he was working on a film with Rajshri Productions. He narrated the idea to producer Rajkumar Barjatya, who liked it, and the two adapted it into a film titled ''Akash''. In November 1997, '' Screen'' reported quoted him: "I would watch my nephew sitting glued to the TV whenever ''Power Zone'' came on, shooting with imaginary fire guns, or operating some imaginary hi-fi gadget in his own little world.
