Shakil Ahmed (general, Born 1957)
Shakil Ahmed was a two star officer of the Bangladesh Army and the antecedent director general of Bangladesh Rifles (now Border Guard Bangladesh). He was commissioned in the Regiment of Artillery in 1976. He was a graduate of the Armed Forces Staff College, Malaysia. A former Distinguished Allied Graduate from Field Artillery Officers Advanced Course at Fort Sill, Oklahoma of the US Army, he had been a Directing Staff at Defence Services Command and Staff College in Mirpur, Dhaka. He was also an instructor at Artillery School and commanded a Artillery Brigade. He also served as a sector commander of the Bangladesh Rifles. Career He has twice commanded field artillery regiments of which one was active service in counter insurgency role. The 66th Infantry Division () is a formation of the Bangladesh Army based in Rangpur Cantonment. History In 1966, Lieutenant General Sahabzada Yaqub Khan, Yaqub Khan of Eastern Command of the Pakistan Army, Pakistan Army proposed a new infantry division to be ameliorate at then northern East Pakistan. Dhaka Cantonment () is a cantonment located in the northern part of Dhaka, Bangladesh. The headquarters of the Bangladesh Army and Air Force are situated within the cantonment.
