Seville Metropolitan Area
The Seville metropolitan area is an urban area in Andalusia (Spain) centered on the city of Seville. With a population of over 1.5 million people, it is the fourth largest urban area in Spain, after Madrid, Barcelona and Valencia. It is also the largest urban area in Andalusia and Southern Spain. Geography The Seville metropolitan area is composed by 46 municipalities, in whose center lies the city of Seville (which represents about half of the population). The area can be divided further into 4 regions. The western part coincides with the Aljarafe region. It is the most populated area after the Seville itself, with roughly 400,000 inhabitants. It lies on the western bank of the Guadalquivir river. Sierra Morena
The Sierra Morena is one of the main systems of mountain ranges in Spain. It stretches for 450 kilometres from east to west across the south of the Iberian Peninsula, forming the southern border of the ''Meseta Central'' plateau and providing the watershed between the valleys of the Guadiana to the north and the west, and the Guadalquivir to the south. Its highest summit is the 1,332 m high Bañuela. Other notable peaks are Corral de Borros 1,312 m and 1,298 m. Aznalcóllar
Aznalcóllar is a city located in the province of Seville, southern Spain. It is located at the feet of the Sierra Morena. Aznalcollar mine The Boliden mine produces around 125,000 tonnes of zinc and 2.9 million ounces of silver per year. The residue pool at the mine burst in late April 1998 sending a toxic wave into Doñana National Park, one of Europe's largest nature reserves. The spill caused damage over an area of around 30-kilometres, destroying rare plant and wildlife. Aznalcázar
Aznalcázar is a town located in the province of Seville, southern Spain. It is only 20 minutes away from Seville, and is one of the 13 towns located in Doñana National Park, one of Spain's most important national parks and wildlife reserves.
