Leon Angelo Serafim (born May 23, 1945) is a retired American academic. He is a Japanologist, linguistic historian and professor emeritus of the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. Serafim is credited with coining the term "Japonic languages", now widely accepted among linguists, to identify the language family of which Japanese and the Ryukyuan languages are members. Early life Serafim earned a B.A. in Oriental Languages at the University of California, Berkeley in 1968, followed by an M.A. in East Asian Languages at University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa in 1976. Matheus Bonadiman Serafim (born 14 May 1998), known as Matheus Serafim or just Serafim, is a Brazilian professional footballer who plays as a right winger for Amazonas, on loan from São José-SP. Le Sserafim ( ; ; stylized in all caps) is a South Korean girl group formed by Source Music, a sub-label of Hybe Corporation, Hybe. The group consists of five members: Sakura Miyawaki, Sakura, Kim Chaewon, Huh Yunjin, Kazuha, and Hong Eunchae. Originally a sextet ensemble, member Kim Garam departed from the group in July 2022.
