Sendo
Sendo was a British manufacturer and supplier of mobile phones founded in 1998 and based in Birmingham. It specialised in low-cost handsets aimed primarily at the pay-as-you-go markets and also high-end Symbian smartphones. The company went into administration in 2005 and its technology was bought by Motorola. History Sendo was created in 1998 by mobile phone experts from Philips and Motorola. In February 2001, Microsoft announced a partnership, in which Microsoft bought $12m of Sendo shares (10%) and a seat on the board. Sendo was to be Microsoft's "go to market partner" for the Stinger smartphone platform that became ''Smartphone 2002''. Microsoft was to deliver code for the StingerOS by June and the first prototype, the Sendo Z100, was delivered. Sendo manage to ship an SDK, but by December not enough code had been delivered by Microsoft and, without any products to sell, Sendo couldn't raise any money from sales or venture capitalists. Sendo Z100
Sendo Z100 is a Tri-band phone by Sendo, designed in 2002 and never launched as Sendo sued Microsoft. Background After Microsoft bought shares of Sendo, they started together to develop the new devices operating system called Stinger. Microsoft and Sendo showed a first prototype at the 3GSM World Congress in Cannes in February 2001. The Sendo Z100 was the first prototype implementation of the renamed operating system Smartphone 2002 presented at the CeBIT 2002. Because the phone was multiple times announced and shunted to new release dates, Sendo canceled the phone in November 2002. Although Sendo didn't give an official reason for cancelling the launch of the Z100, the company had been promised an exclusive by Microsoft, however, Microsoft had also approached HTC to make a competing device which was launched by Orange in the UK as the Orange SPV in November 2002. The M550 (sold as the M551 in North America) was a phone produced by the now defunct Sendo. It is a compact color mobile phone which features a smaller monochrome screen on the front. It features WAP support with color pictures and three games: Splat 2, TenPin and KombatKlub. It comes in a flip flop design and is available in a variety of front colors including blue, black, red and grey. The screen at the front is used for displaying the time and network info. Windows Mobile is a discontinued mobile operating system developed by Microsoft for smartphones and personal digital assistants (PDA). Designed to be the portable equivalent of the Windows desktop OS in the emerging Mobile device, mobile/portable area, the operating system is built on top of Windows CE (later known as Windows Embedded Compact) and was originally released as Pocket PC 2000. Microsoft introduced the Pocket PC keyboard-less PDAs in 2000, with Pocket PC 2000 being the software.
