Segura (Spanish and Valencian: ; ; , or ) is a medium-sized river in southeastern Spain. It has its source in the Sierra de Segura. Course The 325-km (202 mi) long river begins at Santiago Pontones (Jaén Province, Spain, province of Jaén), passes Calasparra, Cieza, Murcia, Cieza, Blanca, Murcia, Beniaján (Region of Murcia), Orihuela, Rojales, and flows into the Mediterranean Sea near Guardamar del Segura in the province of Alicante. Juan Bautista Quirós Segura (18 January 1853 – 7 November 1934) was a Costa Rican millitary officer, businessman and politician who served as the 22nd President of Costa Rica from August to September 1919, following the resignation of Federico Tinoco Granados. Rodolfo "Ompong" Segura (born April 17) is a Filipino former professional basketball player. Patrice Ségura (born 24 May 1961) is a French former professional football player and manager. Playing career Ségura was a product from Toulouse's academy. He made his first appearances for Les Violets during the 1981–82 season, in which the club won the Division 2 title. In 1983, he joined Sète. Francisco Olegario Segura Cano (June 20, 1921 – November 18, 2017), better known as Pancho "Segoo" Segura, was a leading tennis player of the 1940s and 1950s, both as an amateur and as a professional. He was born in Guayaquil, Ecuador, but moved to the United States in 1940.
