Sea of Faces was a 1966 single of English group The Ways and Means. Composed by Brian Parker (musician), Brian Parker and Kim Fowley, it became a hit for the group in early 1967. Background "Sea of Faces" was written by Brian Parker (musician), Brian Parker and Kim Fowley. It was intended for the UK group, Unit Four Plus Two. At the time the song was being written, Fowley was living in England with P.J. Proby. Unit Four Plus Two did record the song but it was never released. Later, it was recorded by The Ways and Means who were managed by producer Ron Fairway, who would be a one-time manager of The Foundations. Backed with the Bobby Bloom, John Linde composition, "Make the Radio a Little Louder", it was released on Pye Records, Pye 7N 17277. It was also released in a picture cover format in Denmark. Trend Records was an English Record label which existed from the late 1960s until the early 1970s. It issued recordings by such notable artists and personalities as Consortium, The Foundations, Audrey Hall, Marcus Lipton, Julie Stevens, Warm Dust and Colin Young. Background In February 1968, the label was launched. They had entered into a deal with Associated Records. Promotion was handled by Richard Eddy of Trend and Andrew Vere of Saga Records. All of the acts that had been signed to Barry Class' company Barry Class Management would have their recordings issued on the label. One act, The Foundations that Class managed would not have their recordings issued on Trend. Prior to the February launch, Class was speculating on issuing budget records. Trend Records was one of the Class group of companies which also included Class Destination Inc., Class Management, Class Theatrical Agency and the Disci chain of record shops. Radio Caroline is a British radio station founded in 1964 by Ronan O'Rahilly and Allan Crawford, initially to circumvent the record companies' control of popular music broadcasting in the United Kingdom and the BBC's radio broadcasting monopoly. Radio City was a British pirate radio station that operated from the Shivering Sands Army Fort, one of the abandoned Second World War Maunsell Sea Forts in the Thames Estuary. Originally launched as Radio Sutch by Screaming Lord Sutch on 27 May 1964, the station was part of the wave of offshore pirate stations that revolutionized British radio in the 1960s. Clem Curtis (born Curtis Clements; 28 November 1940 – 27 March 2017) was a Trinidadian British singer, who was the original lead vocalist of sixties soul group the Foundations. Tony Macaulay (born Anthony Gordon Instone; 21 April 1944) is an English author, composer for musical theatre, and songwriter.
