"Se non avessi più te" () is a 1965 Italian song composed by Franco Migliacci (lyrics) Luis Bacalov and Bruno Zambrini (music) and performed by Gianni Morandi. Background The song was runner-up at the 1965 edition of the Cantagiro festival; it was in the lead for all stages of the contest but was eventually overtaken by Rita Pavone with "Lui" in the final stage at Fiuggi, in what became known as the "Fiuggi blitz". The song was a major success, selling over 320,000 copies as of August 1965. It has been described as "a non-obvious melody rich in bel canto reminiscences", which Morandi performed "with great naturalness and without overdoing it". The song was adapted into a musicarello Se non avessi più te (film), film with the same title, directed by Ettore Maria Fizzarotti and starring the same Morandi and his future wife Laura Efrikian. Gian Luigi "Gianni" Morandi (; born 11 December 1944) is an Italian pop singer, actor and entertainer. It is estimated that Morandi has sold about 50 million recordings. Early life Born in Monghidoro, Emilia-Romagna, the son of a cobbler, Morandi interrupted his studies after primary school to work and support the poor economic conditions of his family. While working in a cinema as a candy vendor he began performing as a singer between films. At 14 years old he entered the Scaglioni Orchestra, with whom he made his first tour in north Italy. Career 1960s After winning a music festival for newcomers in Bellaria – Igea Marina, in 1962 Morandi made an audition for RCA Italiana, and while his performance left dubious a large part of the commission he was put under contract for the insistence of Franco Migliacci, who became its producer and main author for the first part of his career. () was the oldest and longest-running music industry publication in Italy. In 1961, ''Billboard'' defined the publication as the "Italian record bible". History It was founded in October 1945 in Milan, Italy, on the initiative of the journalist and musicologist Aldo Mario De Luigi, a former record executive at La Voce Del Padrone-Columbia-Marconiphone (VCM, now EMI Italy). Originally, the magazine was published under the name ''Musica'' (''Dischi'' was added on the second edition) on a monthly basis. In the 1960s, started to issue a list of best-seller music recordings nationally. Laura Efrikian (; born Laura Ephrikian on 14 June 1940) is an Italian actress and television personality. Life and career Born in Treviso as Laura Ephrikian, the daughter of the conductor and musicologist Angelo Ephrikian of Armenian descent, Efrikian graduated in acting at the drama school of the Piccolo Teatro in Milan. Since 1960 Efrikian intensively worked in theater, television and films, notably hosting the 1962 edition of the Sanremo Music Festival. After the film debut in the 1961 peplum film ''Hercules and the Conquest of Atlantis'', Efrikian starred in several ''musicarelli'' films with Gianni Morandi, whom she married in 1966; the couple divorced in 1979. Ettore Maria Fizzarotti (3 January 1916 – 10 September 1985) was an Italian film director and screenwriter. Born in Naples, the son of the director Armando, he debuted as assistant director in the films of his father, and later collaborated with, among others, Vittorio Cottafavi and Raffaello Matarazzo. He made his directorial debut in 1964, with ''In ginocchio da te'', a '' musicarello'' with Gianni Morandi which was panned by critics but which got a large commercial success.
