Independent Australian Scouts, previously known as Scouts of Australia (1992 to 2001), is a Scouting organisation operating as a central umbrella organisation for independent local scout clubs or associations. Woodcraft (youth Movement)
Woodcraft is a recreational/educational program devised by Ernest Thompson Seton in 1902, for young people based on camping, outdoor skills, and woodcrafts. Thompson Seton's Woodcraft ideas were incorporated into the early Scout movement, but also in many other organisations in many countries. United States Formally established in Los Angeles in 1922, the largest and most active Woodcraft organization is Los Angeles' Woodcraft Rangers, which has a history of providing programs for children in the under-served areas of greater Los Angeles. Wolf Cubs
Cubs or Wolf Cubs are programs associated with some Scout organizations, for young children, usually between 8 and 12, who are too young to be Scouts and make the Scout Promise. A participant in the program is called a Cub and a group of Cubs is called a "Pack". The Wolf Cub program was originated by The Scout Association in the United Kingdom in 1916 to provide a program for boys who were too young to be Boy Scouts and make the Scout Promise. It was adopted by some other Scout organizations. Most Scout organizations, including The Scout Association, no longer use the Wolf Cub program and have replaced it with other program but have retained the name Cubs. Beaver Scouts
Beavers is a programme associated with a few Scout organisations in a few countries, generally for children aged 5/6 to 7/8, who are far too young to be Scouts and make the Scout Promise. Beavers programmes had their origins 1963. Since then, other scout organisations in some countries have developed Beavers or similar programmes by other names, often using an animal local to their region instead. Squirrel Scouts (The Scout Association)
Squirrels is a programme for four to six-year-old infant children, which is operated by The Scout Association in the United Kingdom. The programme was launched in September 2021. Squirrels is a programme with aspects imitating Scouting, Scouts for much younger, infant children (aged 4-6). Squirrels make a simple promise to suit members' young ages, wear neckerchiefs in group colours, have award badges, have short meetings with early finishing times and are taught moral lessons (The Scout Law) through games and stories.
