Scouting For Food
Scouting for Food is an ongoing annual program of the Boy Scouts of America Scouting America is the largest scouting organization and one of the largest List of youth organizations, youth organizations in the United States, with over 1 million youth, including nearly 200,000 female participants. Scouting for Food is a project rooted in the very foundation of the Scouting movement and its dedication to implement the Scout Slogan and do a good turn daily. Greater Saint Louis Area Council
The Greater St. Louis Area Council (GSLAC) of the Boy Scouts of America was formed in 1911 and is based in St. Louis, Missouri. The council serves Scouts in the St. Louis Metro area, southeast Missouri, and southern and central Illinois. History GSLAC was formed in 1911 as the Saint Louis Council, BSA. In September 2016 the Lewis and Clark Council voted to merge with GSLAC, effective January 1, 2017. In September 2018, the Lincoln Trails Council voted to merge into GSLAC, and this took effect January 1, 2019. Until 2021, GSLAC was part of the BSA's Central Region. With the adoption of National Service Territories in June 2021, GSLAC became a member of NST 5. Scout Slogan
The Scout method is the informal educational system used in the Scout Movement with some variations among different Scout organizations. Scout training is character development to help Scouts become independent and helpful, and thereby become "healthy, happy, helpful citizens". The Scout method uses appealing activities in the outdoors with a simplified social structure to generate challenges from which Scouts learn. Through the training, Scouts are taught independence, leadership, the ambition to learn by themselves and a moral code with positive goals. The Scout method works by following the natural impulses of the Scout and unconsciously because the Scout is not aware of the education. Activities and games provide a fun way to develop skills and, when conducted outdoors, provide contact with nature and the environment. A food bank or food pantry is a non-profit, charitable organization that distributes food to those who have difficulty purchasing enough to avoid hunger, usually through intermediaries like food pantries and soup kitchens.
