Scale the Summit is an American instrumental progressive metal band from Houston, Texas. Their discography consists of seven studio albums, one compilation album, twenty single (music), singles, six music videos and one demo (music), demo. Scale the Summit was formed in 2004 by guitarist Chris Letchford and some classmates from the Los Angeles Musicians Institute. Their debut album, ''Monument (Scale the Summit album), Monument'', was self-funded and self-released, but the group signed to Prosthetic Records in time to release their second album, ''Carving Desert Canyons''. They were signed to Prosthetic Records before the band decided to release their work independently. The band is influenced by other progressive acts such as Cynic and Dream Theater. ''V'' (read as ''Five'') is the fifth studio album by American instrumental progressive metal band Scale the Summit. It was released on September 18, 2015, through Prosthetic Records. The album was self-produced by the band and Jeff Penalber. It is their last album to be released on this label before the band decided to release their work independently. It is the band's only album with drummer J.C. Bryant. It is also the band's last album with bassist Mark Michell and original rhythm guitarist Travis Levrier. Courtney LaPlante (born February 26, 1989) is an American singer best known as the lead vocalist of the Canadian Heavy metal music, heavy metal band Spiritbox. Born in the United States, LaPlante began singing in bands as a teenager after moving to Canada. She first gained success as the lead singer of the now-defunct American metalcore band Iwrestledabearonce. As the successor of the band's original vocalist, LaPlante recorded and performed with the band from 2012 until 2015. She left the group months after the release of her second album with them, ''Hail Mary (Iwrestledabearonce album), Hail Mary'' (2015). The Reign of Kindo is an American rock band originating from Buffalo, New York, currently based out of New York City. They produce and release their music independently. They finance the creation of their recordings and videos by writing, producing and releasing a new original recording every month to their supporters on Patreon. Jeff Loomis
Jeff Loomis (born September 14, 1971) is an American musician, best known for his role as lead guitarist in the progressive metal band Nevermore during its existence from 1991 to 2011, as well as brief tenures in its precursor, Sanctuary (band), Sanctuary. In 2014, he joined Swedish melodic death metal band Arch Enemy, and in 2021 he joined Alcatrazz, Graham Bonnet's Alcatrazz as well. He left Arch Enemy in 2023. As a solo artist he has released two albums and one EP. Angel Vivaldi (born June 13, 1985) is an American guitarist, songwriter and producer. He began his solo career in 2003. Vivaldi has self-released five records, ''Revelations'', ''The Speed of Dark, Universal Language, Away with Words: Part 1'', and ''Synapse''. In 2015, he released a cover of Joe Satriani's "Crystal Planet" single. Vivaldi is known for his virtuoso guitar playing style and cinematic music videos. The album was self-released on May 19, 2017, and was produced by the band's guitarist Chris Letchford. It is their first album to be released independently since ''Monument''. It is the band's first album with drummer Charlie Engen and bassist Kilian Duarte. It is also the band's first album to feature guest musicians. Background and recording On October 17, 2016, Scale the Summit announced that they are writing new material for the forthcoming album.
