''Saturday Night'' is a 1922 American silent film, silent romantic comedy film directed by Cecil B. DeMille and starring Leatrice Joy, Conrad Nagel, and Edith Roberts (actress), Edith Roberts. It was Leatrice Joy's first film with DeMille. Plot Shamrock O'Day, a poor laundress dreams of a marrying a rich man. Her neighbour Tom McGuire, the chauffeur of socialite Iris van Suydam, is secretly in love with his mistress. On the other side of the city, Iris is not happy with her pampered life and she dreams of living in a vine-covered cottage. Her rich young fiancé Richard Prentiss is just as tired of women of her class as she is bored with men of his. ''Saturday Night'' is a 1955 musical with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, and a book by Julius J. Epstein, based on the play, ''Front Porch in Flatbush'', written by Epstein and his brother Philip. The first professional musical written by Stephen Sondheim, ''Saturday Night'' was intended to open on Broadway in 1955; however, after the sudden death of its lead producer, the show was shelved. Sondheim then went on to make his professional premiere in 1957, as the lyricist for ''West Side Story''. Following a student production, ''Saturday Night'' was staged at the Bridewell Theatre, London in 1997 and then in Chicago in 1999 and Off-Broadway in 2000. The musical also ran in the West End in 2009. Background ''Saturday Night'' was scheduled to open in the 1954-55 Broadway season. ''Saturday Night! – The Album'' is the second studio album by hip hop artist Jesse Weaver under the alias of Schoolly D. The album was recorded at INS Studios in New York where Weaver created an album of seven tracks that included rapping and instrumentals that were both inspired by and sampled various funk musicians from the 1970s. The album was released independently in 1986. Singles from the album included the tracks "Saturday Night" and "Dedication to All B-Boys". ''Saturday Night! – The Album'' was re-issued by Jive Records in 1987 with several extra tracks that were originally intended for Weaver's follow-up album '' Smoke Some Kill''.
