Santo Ovídio Station (Porto Metro)
Santo Ovídio is a light rail station on line D of the Porto Metro system in Vila Nova de Gaia, Portugal. The station is situated underground, below the junction between Av. da República, R. de Soares dos Reis, R. Conceição Fernandes and R. António Rodrigues Rocha. To the north the line runs in the centre of Av. da República, whist to the south it climbs onto an elevated structure. Santo Ovídio station opened, along with the extension of line D from its previous terminus at , on 15 October 2011. It served as the terminus of line D until 28 June 2024, when the line was further extended to Vila d'Este. The Porto Metro () is a light rail network in Porto, Portugal and a key part of the city's public transport system. Having a semi-metro alignment, it runs underground in central Porto and above ground into the city's suburbs while using low-floor tram vehicles. Vila Nova de Gaia (; ), or simply Gaia, is a city and a municipality in Porto District in Norte Region, Portugal, Norte Region, Portugal. Vila d'Este is a light rail station that is the terminus of line D of the Porto Metro system in Vila Nova de Gaia, Portugal. Casa da Música is an underground light rail station on the Porto Metro system in Porto, Portugal. It is situated on the and takes its name from the nearby Casa da Música concert hall. History The station was built on the site of the former on the gauge Porto to Póvoa and Famalicão railway line that operated into the Porto-Trindade terminus. This station and line dated from the opening of that terminus in 1938, and before then the line terminated at , just to the south of Casa da Música station. Avenida da França station and the line into Trindade station were closed in 2001 to enable the construction of the Metro.
