Sandy Island is an island within the Lacepede Islands group, which sits about 30 kilometres (20 mi) off the coast of the Dampier Peninsula in north-west Western Australia. It is located at 16° 52.86' S 122° 10.17' E. Sandy Cay (British Virgin Islands)
Sandy Cay is an uninhabited island of the British Virgin Islands in the Caribbean. It is located between Tortola and Jost Van Dyke. The island was owned by the Laurance Rockefeller Estate. On 1 May 2008, ownership of the island was transferred to the National Parks Trust of the Virgin Islands. In 2002, International NGO, Island Resources Foundation led a project to eradicate invasive black rats from the island. The island comprises . It is a "managed habitat" area. The island has a short hiking trail, maintained with the help of the Jost Van Dykes BVI Preservation Society (JVDPS), a local non-governmental organization (NGO). Sandy Island Beach State Park is a List of New York state parks, New York State park on the eastern shore of Lake Ontario. Its highlight is a natural sandy beach. The park is near the southern end of a notable length of sandy shoreline, coastal dunes, and wetlands (the Eastern Lake Ontario Dunes and Wetlands); a 1959 study noted that "The eastern end of Lake Ontario contains not only the finest beaches on the entire lake but also the finest wildlife habitat." The park's facilities include several lake swimming areas with lifeguards (in season), changing rooms and restrooms, and a concession stand; a parking fee is charged through the summer season. The Sandy Island and Low Rock Important Bird Area comprises two small islands with a collective area of 9 ha lying at the western end of the Gulf of Carpentaria in the Northern Territory of Australia. They lie south-west of Groote Eylandt off the coast of Arnhem Land, with the nearest settlement there the Numbulwar community. They are important as breeding sites for terns. Description Sandy Island consists of three islets, connected by strips of sand and exposed reef at low tide, about 20 km from the mainland. The central island, vegetated with grass, vines and shrubs, supports the main colony. Low Rock is a sand, coral rubble and rock island 25 km away, and about 30 km from the mainland; it is surrounded by a reef and has a central stand of mangroves. Sandy Island is the name of a small unincorporated community in Georgetown County, South Carolina, United States, and a larger island between the Pee Dee and Waccamaw Rivers that has been preserved as a refuge and nature center. The island is about 9,000 acres (36 km) of a prehistoric sand dune. It is bounded east and west by the rivers, on the north by Bull Creek, and on the south by Thoroughfare Creek. Sandy Island is a island lying about off the coast of Windy Harbour in south-west Western Australia, and near Point D'Entrecasteaux. It is part of D'Entrecasteaux National Park and is an important breeding site for seabirds. Description The island is aligned north-west to south-east, about long by wide, flat and mainly sandy. There is an area of limestone and unconsolidated dune at the north-western end. The southern coastline is composed of migmatitic rocks. Sandy Island is an island in Anguilla, a British Overseas Territory, and is part of the Lesser Antilles in the Caribbean Sea. Sandy Island is a small island on which a local restaurant is located. From Sandy Ground, it can be reached in 15 minutes, and the owner of the restaurant provides free boat crossing. The island is small (ca. 250x75 meters), consisting of round white sands with a little vegetation in the middle, including shrubs and palm trees. The island is popular with tourists for the richness of its seabed and its beach of fine sand and coral, as well as for the presence of a well known bar/restaurant in the area.
