San River
The San (; ''Sian''; ) is a river in southeastern Poland and western Ukraine. It is a tributary of the river Vistula. With a length of , the San is the 6th-longest Polish river. It has a basin area of 16,877 km2, of which 14,426 km2 is in Poland. Etymology in proto-Indo-European languages means 'speed' or 'rapid stream'. In Celtic languages, means 'river'. Course The San arises in the Carpathian Mountains near the village of Sianky, at an elevation of , exactly on the Polish-Ukrainian border () and on the continental watershed, and forms the border between Poland and Ukraine for approximately its first . Poland's largest artificial lake, Lake Solina, was created by a dam on the San River near Lesko. The San flows into the Vistula near Sandomierz. Solina, Poland
Solina is a village in Lesko County, Subcarpathian Voivodeship, in south-eastern Poland. It is the former seat of the gmina (administrative district) called Gmina Solina (in 1999 Polańczyk became the new seat). It lies approximately south-east of Lesko and south-east of the regional capital Rzeszów. In 2002 the village had a population of 190. It is best known for the tallest water dam in Poland, the Solina Dam, which creates the biggest artificial lake in Poland, Lake Solina. There is no industry left after the liquidation of the Hydrobudowa site near the dam. Main employer is PGE, owning the hydroelectric plant in Solina. Local people highly depend on tourist income in the summer by renting rooms, running restaurants and bars and selling souvenirs. On the east side of the dam there are a lot of attractions open during summer, such as water sport equipment rental, a port with tourist ships, amusement park, disco and beach. The Raba is a river in the south of Poland (Lesser Poland Voivodeship), and a right-bank tributary of Vistula, Vistula River. Its source is in the Beskids, between the towns of Rabka-Zdrój and Nowy Targ. It flows to the north and then to the northeast.
