San Diego State Aztecs Men's Soccer
The San Diego State Aztecs men's soccer team is the men's soccer program that represents San Diego State University (SDSU). The Aztecs compete in NCAA Division I as an affiliate member of the Western Athletic Conference (WAC). The team plays its home games at the SDSU Sports Deck. Postseason results The San Diego State Aztecs have an NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Tournament record of 5–8 through eight appearances. The Aztecs also reached the tournament in 1981, though the result was vacated by the NCAA after it was revealed that the team fielded an ineligible player during the tournament. SDSU Sports Deck
The SDSU Sports Deck is an outdoor multi-purpose stadium in San Diego, California, located on the campus of San Diego State University (SDSU). Opened in 2000, it is the home of the San Diego State Aztecs men's soccer, women's soccer, and women's track & field teams. The Aztecs compete in NCAA Division I as a member of the Mountain West Conference (MW) for women's soccer and women's track & field, and the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) for men's soccer. The facility is built atop the university's two-story parking structure (P7). It was the temporary home of the San Diego Legion of Major League Rugby (MLR) in 2022; the Legion moved to Snapdragon Stadium in 2023. Vidal Fernandez
Vidal Fernandez is a Mexican-American former soccer player who played professionally in the North American Soccer League, Major Indoor Soccer League and Western Soccer Alliance. Youth Fernandez was born in Mexico, but moved to Otay Mesa, San Diego, California where he entered Chula Vista High School. He was the 1977 California Interscholastic Federation Soccer Player of the Year as Chula Vista won back to back CIF championships. Eric Boswell Wynalda (born June 9, 1969) is an American soccer coach, television commentator, and former player. He was formerly an analyst and color commentator for soccer coverage on Fox Sports 1 and ESPN. Previously, he served as head coach and technical director of Las Vegas Lights FC in the USL Championship and he is the host of ''WTF: Wynalda Talks Football'' on SiriusXM FC. Wynalda was one of the first Americans to play professionally in Europe before returning to his home country in 1996 to play in Major League Soccer and scoring the first goal in the league's history. Lev Kirshner (born June 17, 1969) is the former head coach for the men's soccer team San Diego State University, who coached the team for two decades. As a player, he competed at the 1993 Maccabiah Games (winning a bronze medal) and the 1997 Maccabiah Games in Israel. Playing career High school and college Kirshner attended Mission San Jose High School in Fremont, California, where he played soccer and badminton, and ran cross country. He graduated in 1987 and was inducted into the school's first Hall of Fame class in 2001. The 2006 NCAA Division I men's soccer tournament was a tournament of 48 teams from NCAA Division I who played for the NCAA Championship in soccer. The College Cup Final Four was held at Hermann Stadium in St. Louis, Missouri. All the other games were played at the home field of the higher-seeded team. The final was held on December 3, 2006. The UC Santa Barbara Gauchos men's soccer team is an NCAA Division I college soccer team composed of student-athletes attending the University of California, Santa Barbara. The Gauchos play their home matches at Harder Stadium. Like most of the other UC Santa Barbara Gauchos athletic teams, the men's soccer team competes in the Big West Conference.
