Samarjitsinh Gaekwad
Samarjitsinh Ranjitsinh Gaekwad (born 25 April 1967) is a cricket administrator and former first-class cricketer. Gaekwad is a member of royal family of erstwhile princely state of Baroda in India. Early life and family Samarjitsinh was born on 25 April 1967 as the only son of Ranjitsinh Pratapsinh Gaekwad and Shubhanginiraje. He studied at The Doon School in Dehradun where he simultaneously captained the school's cricket, football and tennis teams. After the death of his father in May 2012, Samarjitsinh was crowned as new Gaekwad in a traditional ceremony at Laxmi Vilas Palace on 22 June 2012. He settled a 23-year-long legal inheritance dispute worth more than (~ 3 billion in 2013) with his uncle Sangramsinh Gaekwad in 2013. Ranjitsinh Pratapsinh Gaekwad
Ranjitsinhrao Gaekwad (8 May 1938 – 10 May 2012) was an Indian politician. Early life and education Born 8 May 1938 at Ootacamund, Ranjitsinhrao Gaekwad was the second son of Maharaja Pratap Singh Rao Gaekwad (r. 1939–1951), and Maharani Shantadevi Gaekwad (d. 2002), daughter of Sardar Hausrkar Mansinhrao Subbarao of Hasur in Kolhapur. Her daughter, Mrunalini Devi Puar was the Chancellor of The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda. He also obtained post graduate degree in fine arts from Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda. He was the younger brother of Fatehsinghrao Gaekwad, who was the titular Maharaja of Baroda from 1951 to 1971. In the 26th amendment to the Constitution of India promulgated in 1971, the Government of India abolished all official symbols of princely India, including titles, privileges, and remuneration ( privy purses). Wankaner State
Wankaner State was one of the princely states of India in the historical Halar region of Kathiawar during the period of the British Raj. It was an eleven gun salute state belonging to the Kathiawar Agency of the Bombay Presidency. Its capital was in Wankaner, located in Rajkot district, Gujarat state. Most of the territory of the state was mountainous. History Wankaner State was founded in 1620 by Raj Sartanji, son of Prathirajji, eldest son of Raj Chandrasinghji of Halvad (1584–1628). In 1807 Wankaner State became a British protectorate when Maharana Raj Sahib Chandrasinhji II Kesarisinhji signed a treaty with the British. Baroda Cricket Association is the governing body of the Cricket activities in the Baroda region in the Gujarat state of India and the Baroda cricket team. It is affiliated to the Board of Control for Cricket in India. Many past and present India national cricket team players, such as Nayan Mongia, Zaheer Khan, Vaibhav Patel, and Irfan Pathan played at some point.
