Sam O'Connor (rugby Union)
Sam O'Connor (born 11 December 2001) is a Welsh rugby union player who plays as a loosehead prop for the Scarlets. Professional career O'Connor was part of the Bath academy, before joining the Welsh Exile programme. He moved to Wales to study at Llandovery College, while also signing a Scarlets academy contract. In May 2022, O'Connor traveled to New Zealand to play for Linwood RFC in the northern off-season, along with fellow academy player Eddie James. On 24 September 2022, O'Connor made his competitive debut for the Scarlets against Ulster, coming off the bench in the final minute to play alongside his brother Harri. O'Connor started for the Scarlets in a friendly against Saracens on 10 March 2023. While part of the Scarlets academy, O'Connor has also played for affiliated sides Llanelli RFC and Carmarthen Quins. Prop (rugby Union)
In the game of rugby union, there are 15 players on each team, comprising eight forwards (wearing jerseys numbered 1–8) and seven backs (numbered 9–15). In addition, there may be up to eight replacement players "on the bench", numbered 16–23. Players are not restricted to a single position, although they generally specialise in just one or two that suit their skills and body types. 2025–26 United Rugby Championship
The 2025–26 United Rugby Championship will be the 25th season of the professional rugby union competition currently known as the United Rugby Championship, the highest level domestic club rugby competition in South Africa, Ireland, Scotland, Wales and Italy. This season is also the fifth season under that name, and the fifth with the current collection of teams. It will begin on 26 September 2025 and will end in June 2026. Leinster enter the competition as the reigning champions, and holders of the URC Irish Shield and will kick off the competition with the first match away to Stormers. Glasgow Warriors, Sharks and Cardiff will defend the Scottish-Italian, South African and Welsh Shields respectively. Scarlets Players
The Scarlets () are one of the four professional Welsh people, Welsh rugby union teams and are based in Llanelli, Wales. Their home ground is the Parc y Scarlets stadium. They play in the United Rugby Championship and in European Professional Club Rugby competitions. The club was originally named the Llanelli Scarlets but was renamed at the start of the 2008–09 rugby season. Llanelli Rugby Football Club () is a Welsh rugby union club founded on 30 March 1872. The club's historic home ground was Stradey Park in Llanelli, but they moved in 2008 to the new Parc y Scarlets in adjacent Pemberton. The club song is " Sosban Fach", a Welsh song meaning "Little Saucepan", which is sometimes sung by the club's fans during matches as the club anthem. The team colours are scarlet and white.
