The Saint Mary's University of Minnesota (SMUMN) is a private Catholic university with its primary campuses in Winona and Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States. It comprises an undergraduate residential college in Winona; graduate and professional programs in Winona, the Twin Cities, and Rochester; and course delivery sites in Minnesota and Wisconsin as well as Jamaica. Immaculate Heart of Mary (IHM) Seminary is a Roman Catholic college seminary for men in Winona, Minnesota, in the United States that is sponsored by the Diocese of Winona. Located adjacent to Saint Mary's University of Minnesota, IHM has provided college-level seminary training since 1948. Seminarians come primary from dioceses in the Midwestern United States to live at IHM and take classes from Saint Mary's. As of 2024, Bishop Robert E. Barron is the president of the IHM advisory board. On completion of their course work, seminarians at IHM receive a Bachelor of Arts degree in philosophy. Park Avenue and Portland Avenue are a pair of streets in Hennepin County, Minnesota. The northern terminus of the streets is in downtown Minneapolis. During the 1880s, mansions began being built along Park Avenue and the street was one of the most expensive in Minneapolis. The era of mansions on Park Avenue was short-lived and by the 1910s, many mansions had been separated into smaller living units. Increased traffic on Park Avenue furthered the decline of the avenue and in the 1940s, Park and Portland avenues were converted to one-way streets between 46th Street and downtown Minneapolis. Portland Avenue continues south of 46th Street as a two-way arterial street, serving Richfield, Minnesota, Richfield and Bloomington, Minnesota, Bloomington. The Harrington Mansion and Events Center is a historic property at 2540 Park Avenue in Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States. The estate was built in 1902 for the family of Charles Harrington, who oversaw the Minneapolis office for the Van Dusen-Harrington Company, which specialized in grain processing and distribution. The Harrington Mansion and Events Center was purchased by Saint Mary's University of Minnesota in 2011, as the newest addition to Saint Mary's Minneapolis campus. The estate was previously owned by the Zuhrah Shrine, which bought the property from the Harrington family in 1929. Previously a women's seminary, it became a college in 1907 and was operated by the Sisters of Saint Francis of Rochester, Minnesota until its closing in 1989. History Mary Molloy grew up as the only child of Irish Catholic immigrant parents in Sandusky, Ohio. In an age when few women attended college, Molloy earned her way through Ohio State University and graduated, in 1903, with more honors than anyone else up to that time.
