Sabail Raion
Sabail raion () is one of the 12 raions of the capital city of Baku, located on the Caspian shore. It is the oldest district in the city. It contains the Old City of Baku and the Baku Boulevard, as well as the settlements Badamdar and Bibiheybət, the administrative territorial divisions no. 1 and no. 2, the municipalities of Badamdar, Bibiheybət and Sabail, and is bordered by the raions of Nasimi, Yasamal and Garadagh. Current head of the raion's executive power is Eldar Azizov (since 2015). The governing body includes the juridical, socio-economic and other departments. History Originally named Bayil Bibi-Heybat, the raion assumed the name of Joseph Stalin in 1931 and in 1960 was renamed after 26 Baku Commissars. The Flame Towers () are a group of three skyscrapers in Baku, Azerbaijan. The main contractor, Dia Holdings, is owned by two brothers who are linked to Azerbaijan's ruling Aliyev family's network of offshore companies. The height of the tallest tower is . Nasimi Raion
Seyid Ali Imadaddin Nasimi (; ), commonly known as simply Nasimi (), was a 14th- and 15th-century Hurufi poet who composed poetry in his native Azerbaijani, as well as Persian and Arabic languages. He is regarded as one of the greatest Turkic poets of his time and one of the most prominent figures in Azerbaijani literature. Born around 1369–70, Nasimi received a good education and was drawn to Sufism at an early age. After becoming a faithful adherent of the Hurufism movement, Nasimi left Azerbaijan to spread Hurufism in Anatolia and later Aleppo following the execution of its founder and Nasimi's teacher, Fazlallah Astarabadi. In Aleppo, he gained followers as a Hurufi sheikh but faced resistance from Sunni circles who eventually convinced the Mamluk sultan to order his death for his religious beliefs around 1418–19. The National Assembly (), also transliterated as Milli Mejlis, is the legislative branch of government in Azerbaijan. Bayil (; also known as Bailov and Bailovo) is a settlement in Baku, Azerbaijan. Geography In March 2000, a major landslide in the Bayil slope destroyed dozens of shops, apartments and gas stations. Baku Bay
Bay of Baku (Baku Bay) is a natural harbor of the Baku port and local yacht club, on the southern shore of the Absheron Peninsula and on the western shore of the Caspian Sea. The 26 Baku Commissars were Bolshevik and Left SR, Left Socialist Revolutionary (SR) members of the Baku Commune. The commune was established in the city of Baku, which was then the capital of the briefly independent Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, and is now the capital of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The commune, led by Stepan Shahumyan, existed until 26 July 1918 when the Bolsheviks were forced out of power by a coalition of Dashnaks, Socialist-Revolutionary Party, Right SRs and Mensheviks.
