Satellite Data Unit
A satellite data unit (SDU) is an avionics device installed in an aircraft that allows air/ground communication via a satellite network. It is an integral part of an aircraft's SATCOM (satellite communication) system. The device connects with a satellite via ordinary radio frequency (RF) communication and the satellite then connects to a ground station or ''vice versa''. All satellite communication whether audio or data is processed by the SDU. The SDU communicates with an onboard MDDU (multi-purpose disk-drive unit) which maintains an updatable table of ground stations near the aircraft's position and the order of preference for selection of which ground station to use which thus guides the choice of satellite. Along with analysing data continuously sent from all ground stations (such as station status and the error rate of signals from each station) the SDU receives information on the aircraft's position and orientation from another onboard system (ADIRU, air data inertial re ...

Santos Dumont Airport
The Santos Dumont Airport is the second major airport serving Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It is named after the Brazilian aviation pioneer Alberto Santos-Dumont, Alberto Santos Dumont (1873–1932). It is operated by Infraero. History Originally known as Calabouço Airport, the history of the airport can be traced back to the early 1930s. Until that time, the few aircraft equipped with landing gear used the Manguinhos Airport. Seaplanes, which at the time operated the majority of domestic and international flights, used a terminal located at the Calabouço Point, an area known today as the Praça Marechal Âncora. Take-off and landings were made using an area of the Guanabara Bay then known as ''estirão do Caju'' (''Caju water stretch''). It was as a development of the terminal at the Calabouço Point that the Calabouço Airport was created. In 1934, in order to handle a growing number of land operations, land was reclaimed from the sea to create the first runway of the ...

History Background The initial version of the youth league was founded in 1993 as an independent organization to its parent party. The original name was (Sweden Democrat's Youth Association), but the organization was soon renamed (Sweden Democratic Youth). The youth league was temporarily disbanded by the SD leadership in 1995 due to rampant problems with neo-Nazism in the ranks. At the time, the original leadership of the first league were dual-organized with the neo-Nazi group ''Stockholms Unga Nationalsocialister'' until 1995 when the mother party closed down the Sweden Democratic Youth on the grounds that "ideologically deviant persons" had taken over its leadership. Some of the original members of the youth league broke away from the Sweden Democrats to form the National Youth after the league was disbanded. The Sweden Democratic Youth was la ...

Sewer Dosing Unit
A sewer dosing unit (SDU) is a plumbing device to allow effective sewage disposal with low liquid-flow rates. With a global emphasis on water saving, many new buildings and renovations are seeing the installation of water saving fixtures such as low flow shower heads and low flush toilets. With the decrease in wastewater flows problems are arising from waste solids not being carried completely to the main sewers, often causing blockages. History In 2006, Ducane R&D Pty Ltd conceived the idea of a device that can store wastewater and release it in large batches to replace the drain clearing action of large volume toilet flushes. After prototyping and development the devices became available for sale in Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom under the brand name Drainwave in 2010. Performance Independent testing has shown that the use of an SDU allows for the use of low flush toilets using as little as 0.8 L to push general waste solids more than 25 metres along a typical w ...

Sdu (publishing Company)
Sdu is a Dutch publishing company, whose name derives from the company's origin as the ''Staatsdrukkerij en Uitgeverij'', typically abbreviated as ''Staatsdrukkerij''; the company started as the official publisher ("State Printing House") of Dutch governmental publications and of documents such as passports and voter registration cards. Along with the Staatscourant, it was the first Dutch company to receive the appellation "royal", awarded in 1806 by Louis-Napoléon Bonaparte. History Sdu became independent of the state in 1988, although the state maintained ownership of the shares. The company was reorganized, shifting its focus towards publishing rather than printing. In 1999 the company ceased printing the phone book; this lowered profits by 11%. Plans for privatization began to be made in 2000. In that same year, together with the printers Joh. Enschedé, Sdu began printing the new Dutch passports, designed by Jaap Drupsteen. (The combination was called Enschedé/Sdu, later ...

Sodium Diuranate
Sodium diuranate, also known as the yellow oxide of uranium, is an inorganic chemical compound with the chemical formula . It is a sodium salt of a diuranate anion. It forms a hexahydrate . Sodium diuranate is commonly referred to by the initials SDU. Along with ammonium diuranate it was a component in early yellowcakes. The ratio of the two compounds is determined by process conditions; however, yellowcake is now largely a mix of uranium oxides. Preparation In the classical procedure for extracting uranium, pitchblende is broken up and mixed with sulfuric and nitric acids. The uranium dissolves to form uranyl sulfate and sodium carbonate is added to precipitate impurities. If the uranium in the ore is in the tetravalent oxidation state, an oxidiser is added to oxidise it to the hexavalent oxidation state, and sodium hydroxide is then added to make the uranium precipitate as sodium diuranate. The alkaline process of milling uranium ores involves precipitating sodium uran ...

Service Data Unit
In Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) terminology, a service data unit (SDU) is a unit of data that has been passed down from an OSI layer or sublayer to a lower layer. This unit of data (SDU) has not yet been encapsulated into a protocol data unit (PDU) by the lower layer. That SDU is then encapsulated into the lower layer's PDU and the process continues until reaching the PHY, physical, or lowest layer of the OSI ''stack''. The SDU can also be thought of as a set of data that is sent by a user of the services of a given layer, and is transmitted semantically unchanged to a peer service user. SDU and PDU It differs from a PDU in that the PDU specifies the data that will be sent to the peer protocol layer at the receiving end, as opposed to being sent to a lower layer. The SDU accepted by any given layer (n) from layer (n+1) above, is a PDU of the layer (n+1) above. In effect the SDU is the 'payload' of a given PDU. The layer (n) may add headers or trailers, or both, to ...
