SCC''mec'', or staphylococcal cassette chromosome ''mec'', is a mobile genetic element of ''Staphylococcus'' bacterial species. This genetic sequence includes the ''mecA'' gene coding for resistance to the antibiotic methicillin and is the only known way for ''Staphylococcus'' strains to spread the gene in the wild by horizontal gene transfer. SCC''mec'' is a 21 to 60 kb long genetic element that confers broad-spectrum β-lactam resistance to MRSA. Moreover, additional genetic elements like Tn''554'', pT181, and pUB110 can be found in SCC''mec,'' which have the capability to render resistance to various non-β-lactam drugs. The Singapore Cruise Centre ( abbrev: SCC; Chinese: 新加坡邮轮中心) is a cruise terminal located in the south of Singapore next to HarbourFront Centre in the vicinity of HarbourFront and in Keppel Harbour, near HarbourFront MRT station. Its clubhouse is located on Connaught Drive on the south end of the Padang in Singapore's central business district. History The SCC was established in 1852. The Somaliland Camel Corps (SCC) was a British Colonial Auxiliary Forces unit which was raised in British Somaliland. It existed from 1914 until 1944. Beginnings and the Dervish rebellion In 1888, after signing successive treaties with the then ruling Somali Sultans, the British established a protectorate in northern present-day Somaliland referred to as British Somaliland.
