Roslyn is a suburb in the city of Palmerston North, Manawatū-Whanganui, New Zealand. It is located north-east of the central city and bounded on the north by the North Island Main Trunk Railway ( Milson), on the east by Palmerston North-Gisborne Railway ( Kelvin Grove), the south by Main Street East (Terrace End) and the west by Ruahine Street ( Palmerston North Hospital Area). Roslyn is also located 2.1 km SE from Palmerston North International Airport. The suburb is predominantly residential and at the 2018 Census it had a population of 2,364. History Richter, Nannestad & Co., a sawmilling company, acquired and cleared the vast deep forested area northeast of Palmerston North. Hugo Inglis
Hugo Inglis (born 18 January 1991) is a New Zealand field hockey player who plays as a forward for the New Zealand national team. He played for the Southern Dogs in the New Zealand Hockey League and he played in Europe for SCHC, Braxgata and currently Rotterdam. He also represented the Uttar Pradesh Wizards in the Hockey India League. Club career Inglis started playing hockey when he was five and he joined his local hockey club the Southern Dogs. In 2012 he signed a two-year contract at SCHC in the Netherlands. Due to his commitments to the national team, he would miss the preparation for the second half of the season so in January 2013 his contract at SCHC was annulled and he returned to New Zealand. Steve Maharey
Steven Maharey (born 3 February 1953) is a New Zealand academic and former politician of the Labour Party. Elected to Parliament for the first time in 1990 , he was Minister of Social Development and Employment from 1999 to 2005 and Minister of Education from 2005 to 2007. He retired from Parliament at the 2008 general election to become the Vice-Chancellor at Massey University. Early life Maharey was born in Palmerston North in 1953, the son of William Maharey and his wife Irene. He attended Freyberg High School in 1966–1969. Papaioea
Papaioea is a suburb of Palmerston North on New Zealand's North Island. Its name comes from the name of the original settlement in a clearing in forest which was purchased from local Māori (Ngāti Rangitāne) in 1864. The name was used to describe Palmerston North also. Somewhat later, the name had become forgotten with the transliteration of Pamutana being preferred (especially by the Native Land Court). The name Papaioea did not resurface until the 1920s, and is sometimes used to refer to Palmerston North as a whole. Papaioea has many shops, food outlets and supermarkets, including Terrace End Shopping Centre (Broadtop) on Broadway Avenue. Milson is a suburb of Palmerston North, Manawatū-Whanganui, New Zealand. The suburb is located to the north of the city, beyond the North Island Main Trunk Rail. Milson is mostly a residential suburb with a population of 6,246 (2018). Milson is divided into a residential zone in the west and central and an industrial zone in the east. Palmerston North Airport and Palmerston North railway station are in Milson. Milson was part of the Papaioea Ward of Palmerston North City Council until 2013.
