Richard Martin (December 12, 1917 – September 4, 1994) was an American actor. He was best known for his role as Chito Rafferty, the Irish-Mexican western comedy relief sidekick of Tim Holt and Robert Mitchum, among others. Before their pairing, Martin originated the role in the 1943 film '' Bombardier''. Biography Though born in Spokane, Washington, Martin's family moved to a Mexican neighbourhood in West Hollywood, California, where he learned to imitate his friends. He began in films by working as a receptionist for MGM. When a friend made a bet with his agent that the agent couldn't get Martin an actor's contract, Martin's agent won the bet. He became a prolific contract player for RKO Pictures in 1942, often appearing unbilled. Hollywood's World War II films often featured many ethnic American enlisted men, and Martin first played Chito Rafferty as a contemporary air crewman in '' Bombardier''. Richard Martyn (16301694) was a leading figure in early New Hampshire, in business, church and government. Martyn was a merchant, and in 1671 he was one of the founders of the first church in Portsmouth. He served as selectman, as Commissioner for the Trial of Small Causes, and as Deputy to the General Court of New Hampshire (the legislature of New Hampshire). He was a Representative in 1672 and 1679, and chosen as Speaker of the House in 1692. Richard Beamon Martin (February 23, 1913 - April 11, 2012) was a bishop in The Episcopal Church. Early life and education Martin was born on February 23, 1913, in Peak, South Carolina, the son of Benjamin Butler Martin and Viola Glasgow. He was educated at the Georgetown High School and later graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in 1937 from Allen University. Later he thought languages and social studies at Georgetown High School. He then studied at Bishop Payne Divinity School, which merged with Virginia Theological Seminary in 1949. Martin graduated in 1942 with a Bachelor of Divinity. Richard Frewen Martin, (26 July 1918 – 1 September 2006) was a British test pilot. He was born in Bournemouth. "Dickie" Martin served in the Royal Air Force during the Second World War and won a Distinguished Flying Cross and bar. After the war, he tested the early experimental jets that led to the development of the Hunter, Swift and Sea Vixen fighter aircraft. He left the RAF in 1953 with the rank of Wing Commander to become a test pilot at Gloster Aircraft Company, where he was appointed chief test pilot the following year and led development of the delta-wing Javelin fighter. He amassed 19,000 flying hours, and flew 240 different types of aircraft. Richard Milton Martin (1916, Cleveland, Ohio – 22 November 1985, Milton, Massachusetts) was an American logician and analytic philosopher. In his Ph.D. thesis written under Frederic Fitch, Martin discovered virtual sets a bit before Quine, and was possibly the first non-Pole other than Joseph Henry Woodger to employ a mereological system. Colonel Sir Richard Edward Rowley Martin (2 September 1847 – 15 May 1907) was a British Army officer and colonial official. Martin was born in Hemingstone, the fourth son of Richard Bartholomew Martin, of Hemingstone Hall, Suffolk. Martin purchased a commission in the 77th (East Middlesex) Regiment of Foot in 1867; he subsequently transferred into the 6th (Inniskilling) Dragoons. He served in the First Boer War of 1881 and was promoted to lieutenant-colonel in 1886. In 1888 he was British Commissioner in Togoland. In 1889 he became the commanding officer of his regiment, and Martin was promoted to colonel in 1890. Between 1890 and 1895 he served as British Representative on the late Provisional Government Committee in Swaziland, and was made Knight Commander of the Order of St Michael and St George in 1895. Richard Lionel Martin (; ; July 26, 1951March 13, 2011) was a Canadian professional ice hockey winger who played in the NHL with the Buffalo Sabres and Los Angeles Kings for 11 seasons between 1971 and 1982.
