Rødovre Municipality
Rødovre Municipality () is a municipality ( Danish, '' kommune'') in the Capital Region on the island of Zealand in eastern Denmark. Its mayor is Britt Jensen. She is a member of the Social Democrats (''Socialdemokraterne'') political party who hold a majority of seats in the council. History The municipality was created in 1901 when the parish of Rødovre was split from Brønshøj-Rødovre parish; the Brønshøj part was simultaneously annexed by the city of Copenhagen. The municipality reforms of 1970 and of 2007 both left the boundaries of Rødovre unchanged. Erik Nielsen was replaced by Britt Jensen as mayor by a vote in the municipal council 19 March 2020 because the former made use of an official car although he only had one kilometer to work. Denmark is divided into five regions of Denmark, regions, which contain 98 municipalities (, ; , ). Meter
The metre (or meter in US spelling; symbol: m) is the base unit of length in the International System of Units (SI). Since 2019, the metre has been defined as the length of the path travelled by light in vacuum during a time interval of of a second, where the second is defined by a hyperfine transition frequency of caesium. Venstre (Denmark)
(, , V), full name (), is a conservative-liberal, agrarian political party in Denmark. Founded as part of a peasants' movement against the landed aristocracy, today it espouses an economically liberal, pro- free-market ideology. is the major party of the centre-right in Denmark, and the second-largest party in the country. Danish People's Party
The Danish People's Party (DPP; , DF) is a nationalist and right-wing populist political party in Denmark. It was formed in 1995 by former members of the Progress Party (FrP). The party saw a period of significant growth after its founding and lent its support to the – Conservative People's Party coalition government that ruled from the general election of 2001 until the 2011 election defeat. Rødovre Mighty Bulls
The Rødovre Mighty Bulls are a Danish professional ice hockey team based in Rødovre, Denmark, playing in the Metal Ligaen, the top tier of Danish ice hockey. The club was founded in 1961 and play their home games in the Rødovre Skøjte Arena which has a capacity of 3,600 spectators. The club has won the Danish championship 6 times in 1978, 1983, 1985, 1986, 1990 and 1999. From 1977 to 1979, the team was coached by Boris Kulagin, the former coach of the Soviet national ice hockey team. Kulagin joined the Danish team after getting fired as head coach of the Soviet national team following a disappointing 3rd-place finish at the 1977 World Ice Hockey Championships. Hvidovre
Hvidovre is the main town in Hvidovre Municipality, Denmark. The town, a suburb of Copenhagen, is about 10 km southwest of the capital's center. It is the 2nd biggest suburb of Copenhagen, only beaten by Frederiksberg. History Hvidovre has been inhabited since prehistoric times. In 1929, a 3,500-year-old sword from the Bronze Age was excavated in Hvidovre. A farm, Ovre (Aworthe), was located in the area in about 1170 when Esbern Snare gave it to Sorø Abbey that later passed it on to Absalon, Bishop Absalon. A church was built during the Romanesque period. The name Hvidovre, meaning White Ovre, refers to the colour of the church, which was built in white chalk, as opposed to the one in Rødovre, Red Ovre, which was built in red brick.
