Daydream
Daydreaming is a stream of consciousness that detaches from current external tasks when one's attention becomes focused on a more personal and internal direction. Various names of this phenomenon exist, including mind-wandering, fantasies, and spontaneous thoughts. There are many types of daydreams – however, the most common characteristic to all forms of daydreaming meets the criteria for mild dissociation. In addition, the impacts of the various types of daydreams are not identical. While some are disruptive and deleterious, others may be beneficial to some degree. The term ''daydreaming'' is derived from clinical psychologist Jerome L. Singer, whose research created the foundation for nearly all subsequent modern research. The terminologies assigned by modern researchers brings about challenges centering on identifying the common features of daydreaming and building collective work among researchers. Characteristics and types of daydreaming Daydreaming consists of s ...

''Palimpsest'' is the fifth studio album by Canadian progressive metal band Protest the Hero released on June 18, 2020 through Spinefarm Records. Palimpsest marks the band's first studio record since 2013's '' Volition'', and their first new material since 2016's ''Pacific Myth'' EP. Background Talking about the recording process of ''Palimpsest'', Guitarist Luke Hoskin explained, "'Palimpsest' is by far the most challenging record we have worked on. The writing and recording process saw so many delays, it's honestly hard to keep them straight. Vocalist Rody Walker stated, "This record was extremely difficult for me personally. With my first child ...

Ghost Reveries
''Ghost Reveries'' is the eighth studio album by Swedish progressive metal band Opeth. It was released on 29 August 2005. It was their first album after signing with Roadrunner Records, and first album since ''Still Life'' (1999) to not be produced by Steven Wilson. ''Ghost Reveries'' is the first album by Opeth to include keyboardist Per Wiberg as a "permanent" member (although Wiberg contributed keyboard work to Opeth's live performances starting around the time of '' Lamentations''), and it is the last Opeth album to include drummer Martin Lopez and long-time guitarist Peter Lindgren. The album's only single is "The Grand Conjuration". A music video of the song was released, although about half of the song was edited from the video, due to the length of the song. Lopez does not appear in the video, as he was sick and was temporarily replaced by Gene Hoglan. Background Opeth returned home in 2004 to start writing new material for its eighth album; by the end of the year, they ...

Nightbook
''Nightbook'' is an album created by Italian composer Ludovico Einaudi and released in 2009. The album saw Einaudi take a new direction with his music as he incorporated synthesized sounds alongside his solo piano playing. A new approach could be seen with tracks such as "Nightbook", and "Lady Labyrinth" where the element of percussion was utilized along the piano, acting as a driving force throughout the song. In Italy the album went Gold with more than 35,000 copies sold. Einaudi describes this album as "A night-time landscape. A garden faintly visible under the dull glow of the night sky. A few stars dotting the darkness above, shadows of the trees all around. Light shining from a window behind me. What I can see is familiar, but it seems alien at the same time. It's like a dream - anything may happen." The title track "Nightbook" was used in the TV advertisement for the Channel 4 drama " Any Human Heart". The track "Lady Labyrinth" is often used as background music in Top Gear ...

A Single Man (album)
''A Single Man'' is the twelfth studio album by English musician Elton John. Released in 1978, it is the first album for which Gary Osborne replaced Bernie Taupin as lyricist. It is also the first of two (the second being '' Victim of Love'') John albums that, on the original cut, have no tracks co-written by Taupin. Production ''A Single Man'' is the first of Elton John's albums to not include work by lyricist Bernie Taupin, and the first since his debut '' Empty Sky'' without producer Gus Dudgeon. The returning members of the Elton John Band are percussionist Ray Cooper and guitarist Davey Johnstone; the latter played on only one song on the album. Paul Buckmaster would not appear on another Elton John album until '' Made in England''. Unlike previous compositions in which lyrics came first, John started writing melodies at a piano, and an album unintentionally came about from this. This is also John's first album on which he sings in a lower register. " Song for G ...

Nevaeh (album)
''Nevaeh'' is the only album by Design the Skyline. It was released on August 16, 2011 through Victory Records. Background The band had ideas to start work on a debut album after changing their name from Extra Large Kids to Design the Skyline. Initially the members set plans to release a full-length titled, ''Synthetic Cities'' which even had its own artwork completed along with many of its songs recorded and planned but were never fully finished or mastered. The project was abandoned. The reason for this was due to the band aspiring to pursue a completely different and more "mature" sound than what they had originally interpreted after their signing to Victory in May. ''Nevaeh'' was then written and recorded by the course of May through July 2011. The album spawned two singles; "Break Free from Your Life" and "Cybernetic Strawflower" before its release. Sound and musical structure The band has cited The Doors and Led Zeppelin as some of the influences for the album's musical s ...

She explained in an interview for ''i-D'' magazine that she didn't want the album to be eponymous, it's more that every other name felt wrong: "I went through a whole year of trying different names, they all felt foreign. But because I use my singing voice in a way that I've never done before, it didn't feel unnatural to call it ''Arca''." The use of her voice on the new album was inspired by collaborator and friend, Björk: I don't know if I would've ever sung on this record if i ...
